Is The Trend Toward Trump Starting To Gain Traction Or Is This Only A Fluke

WASHINGTON – The latest state and national polls, the first partially reflecting Hillary Clinton’s bad week, show Donald Trump moving up in swing states, challenging his opponent in Democrat states and running away with Republican states.
In Ohio, one of the most important battleground venues, the latest Bloomberg poll, conducted only partially after Mrs. Clinton’s physical collapse Sunday, shows Trump with his biggest lead – up 5 percent.
In another shocking poll for the Democrats released Tuesday, Donald Trump is catching up on Hillary Clinton in Maine as they race for the presidency. Clinton leads Trump by a mere 3 points, 42 percent to 39 percent, within the margin of error, in the Colby College/Boston Globe survey.
Libertarian presidential nominee Gary Johnson nets 9 percent, while Green Party candidate Jill Stein grabs 5 percent. Another 5 percent are undecided.
Even worse news for Mrs. Clinton, this poll was concluded before her stumble Sunday.
“Mainers for the first time in a while are going to have to pay attention to the statewide race for president,” said Dan Shea, a political science professor and director of the Goldfarb Center at Colby College. “The Clinton campaign can no longer take this state for granted.”
Earlier polls had Clinton up by between 7 and 10 percent in Maine.
Multiple recent polls have shown a closer fight between Clinton and Trump at both the national and state levels – most before Mrs. Clinton’s harsh characterization of Trump voters as “deplorables.”
The Los Angeles Times/USC Poll, the only daily national tracking poll, also shows Trump with his biggest lead yet in the campaign.
The results Wednesday showed Trump at 46.7 percent and Mrs. Clinton with 42.0 percent of the national vote.
Yet another poll released Wednesday, by Quinnipiac University, showed Trump halving Clinton’s lead. A previous poll in late August showed the GOP nominee down by 10 points. Now he is down by only five. According to the poll, Clinton is now at 48 percent and Trump, 43 percent. In a four-way race, the percentages were: Clinton, 41; Trump, 39; Gary Johnson, 13; and Jill Stein, 4.
There’s more good news for Trump in Colorado – formerly considered a long shot for him.
The new Reuters/Ipsos survey gives Trump a narrow edge in a two-way race, 43 percent to 41 percent — his first lead in Colorado in the 2016 election. It follows two other recent polls showing the presidential race as a dead heat or within 5 percentage points.

Trump is also widening his leads in Republican states like Texas, Utah and South Carolina, according to the latest surveys.
In Texas, Trump takes 42 percent to Clinton’s 36 percent in the Emerson College Polling Society survey.

Obama Does Not Back Israel Poll Says

Hill Poll: Growing Numbers Feel Obama Doesn't Back Israel Enough

Unknown - Unknown,  March 5th, 2013

A growing number of people believe the Obama administration is not doing enough to support Israel, according to a recent survey commissioned by The Hill newspaper.
The poll of 1,000 likely voters conducted Feb. 28 found that three times more voters think the White House is not supportive enough than those who believe it is too supportive.
The new numbers for those who said President Barack Obama does not back Israel as much as he should are higher than they were in three similar Hill surveys conducted since May 2011.
The February poll found 39 percent of respondents said Obama does not support Israel enough compared to 13 percent who said his policies are too supportive.
A slightly larger percentage, 30 percent compared to 28 percent, said Obama is more anti-Israel than pro-Israel. But the percentage of people labeling Obama as being pro-Israel is up slightly from a September 2011 poll.
Obama's policies on Israel are being watched closely, while concerns rise about Iran's nuclear program. Israel says Iran must be stopped from obtaining a nuclear weapon, even if it involves a military strike. The Obama administration favors a diplomatic solution instead.
The White House is renewing its focus on Israel this month, with Vice President Joe Biden to address the American Israel Public Affairs Committee conference Monday, and Obama to make his first presidential visit to Israel later this month.
The Hill poll, conducted by Pulse Opinion Research, also found that most voters think Obama should be somewhat or very involved in helping broker a peace deal between Israel and the Palestinians. However, a third of voters said he should not be involved.
The survey also revealed that fewer voters think Obama is improving the U.S. standing worldwide. Thirty-seven percent said the United States is more respected internationally than it was before Obama took office, and 43 percent said the country is less respected

Townhall Poll Agrees with Conservative Musings

In a poll released today by Townhall.com & HotAir.com, Ron Paul lead all contestants for the Republican Party candidacy. What is ironic and impressive to us at Conservtive Musings was that the results were similar to our poll which ended a week ago.  Our readers and those who voted on Townhall are different from the punditry that we hear on the news.  Of course, time will tell and we will run another poll later in the month to see how our numbers vary from those at Townhall.  Whatever the result, we have some quality people running for President and it is our hope that we can end the Obimnator's term in November 2012.

Here is the posting from the Townhall.com site:

Congratulations to Ron Paul who has won the June Townhall.com & HotAir.com Presidential Straw Poll! This is the second time since January that Ron Paul has won the Straw Poll. He also saw the biggest jump in support this month at 5.8%. In fact, he was one of only four candidates who gained ground this month: Sarah Palin (+4.1%), Michele Bachmann (+5.3%) and Rick Perry (+3.4%). Not surprisingly, those candidates received the most buzz this in the media this month. Herman Cain, the May Straw Poll Winner, received the biggest drop in support at -6.6%. Has the Hermanator's support peaked? Is Sarah Palin making a comeback in anticipation of a possible presidential announcement? Are new faces Michele Bachmann and Rick Perry beginning to gain momentum? Stay tuned!

Our Latest Poll on Presidential Candidates

In our latest poll, we asked who our readers would like to see as a Presidential Candidate for the 2012 election.  It turned up surprising results.  Current leaders in other polls (Mitt Romney and Sarah Palin) barely scraped up 5% each along with Rick Perry and the formidable "unnamed candidate" while Ron Paul was an out of the box winner at more than 35%. Second place was Herman Cain with 17%. Tied for third were Michelle Bachman and Chris Christy at 11%.  The real losers were Gingrich, Santorum and Pawlenty who did not garner a single vote.

While this poll is far from scientific so to take anything to the bank, would be foolhardy.  However, we have seen other polls where Ron Paul has scored well so he might be stronger than we would have expected.  I am glad to see that Herman Cain scored so well as it proves what I have always thought, conservatives vote for the man and his ideas rather than other "cosmetic" issues.

In the future as the field starts to thin out, we will again run this poll.
Thanks to all who voted.

Poll Results--Debt Limit

The result of our most recent poll showed that 50% of our voters said that they thought that not lifting the debt limit would have catastrophic results. 12 1/2% said nothing would occur and another 12 1/2% thought the result would be something else. The remaining 25% thought we would experience a drop in dollar value.

In summary, 75% thought the results would be negative, a point that I do not necessarily agree with, however, I would never say that I was a world finance expert.  Is this the response to the Treasury Secretary's warning?

I am more in the group that thinks nothing will happen, so paint me naive if you want. I would hope that I am right and the majority wrong.  I guess time will tell.

Your opinions are welcome.

Poll Results -- Is Osama bin Ladin Dead

In our latest "not so scientific" poll of our readers, we have tabulated the results and find that most of our readers believe that Osama is dead.  68% believe this to be true.  Add another 8% think he is probably dead. However, by the  same amount (8% ) are not sure. 16% said they wanted to see the body and another 16% said they would believe it when they see Obama's college records.

Wherever you stand on the issue, the White House handling of the entire debacle has been terrible. For an organization who prides themselves on running things with a consistent message, this has not been their shining hour.  The inconsistent message has changed repeatedly and sometimes on a daily basis.  No wonder there are some who doubt the words that emanate from Washington.

Our next poll is about the next "political show" in Washington. The effort to increase the national debt by the Democrats who claim it will cause the United States to default on its debts if the increase is not passed. On the other side, the Republicans are saying that nothing of the kind will occur.  For those of us in "flyover" country, we know someone is exaggerating.  It probably will be somewhere in the middle but when are these political animals we call legislators going to become statesmen/stateswomen and do what is best for the country rather than grandstanding?

Please let me know what you think?

Poll Results

The most recent poll on Conservative Musings resulted in some interesting insights.  The poll was to determine if participants would vote for Donald Trump as the Republican Presidential candidate.  A surprising 61% of respondents said they NEVER would support Trump.  Just under 25% thought they might consider and the balance were more favorably enamored by the Trumpmaster.

The negative response was surprising due to Trump's  business success, One would have thought that conservatives would be more interested in having him lead the party. However, in conversations with other non-liberals, it appears there is a reluctance to endorse Trump due to his "celebrity" status. Does being a renowned business man who happens to have a television program eliminate him from being President?  Apparently, the answer is yes.

Another negative are the comments he has made regarding President Obama and his birthplace. Trump has said he does not believe the President was born in Hawaii.  As we have previously written, Trump has reinvigorated the debate by the "birthers."

Would he be a good candidate and more importantly, would he be a successful President. Would he have the patience to work with Congress to pass his program or would he resort to his favorite phrase--"you're fired!"

So we see that Conservatives are not enamored with the Trumpster, however, one wonders if he will become a candidate for the Republican at all.  He has promised to declare before June 1st, we all will be waiting on  his decision. We know that he has the ego, the money and (he says) the angst on the direction America is heading. So, will enter the race, time will tell.

Do you agree with the poll? Will Trump become a candidate? Has your opinion changed on Trump?  If not Trump, who would you vote for?
