Sanders--Now What He Tries To Sell

The Hypocrisy of Senator Bernie Sanders

Political News and Analysis
The Hypocrisy of Senator Bernie Sanders
Bernie Sanders Condemns Anti-Semitism in Iowa Menorah Ceremony
December 30, 2019
The presiding Rabbi Yossi Jacobson at the ceremony asked Sanders why he rarely discussed his Judaism while on the campaign trail and reluctantly participated in the Chanukah Menorah lighting ceremony. Sanders dodged the question and for good reason.
One can only smell a rat in the hypocrisy in Sander’s condemnation of rising Anti-semitism. His own actions belie any genuine concern. Sanders in his role in the Senate has most often taken anti-Israel positions and anti-American positions that contradict  his usual populous meaningless platitudes of supposed Israel support.
What are Bernie Sander’s stands on issues that matter to Jewish voters
At the recent Democratic debate on December 19, Vermont senator Bernie Sanders said that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu was “racist,” and called for a US policy toward Israel that makes space for both Israeli security and a “pro-Palestinian” perspective.
Sanders said, “Israel has — and I say this as somebody who lived in Israel as a kid, proudly Jewish – Israel has the right to exist, not only to exist but to exist in peace and security. But what US foreign policy must be about is not just being pro-Israel. We must be pro-Palestinian as well.”
“We must understand that right now in Israel we have leadership under Netanyahu, who has recently, as you know, been indicted for bribery, who, in my view, is a racist.
What we need is a level playing field in terms of the Middle East, which addresses the terrible crisis in Gaza, where 60 percent or 70% of the young people are unemployed,” he added.
Additional Commentary by Jerome S. Kaufman
One must fact check check Sander’s blanket statements along with their crowd pleasing meaningless platitudes. There is absolutely no evidence that Netanyahu is “racist”  He is simply defending a very small portion of the land that was given to the Jewish people by G-d in the first place and, in a far less significant temporal way, the League of Nations and the British Mandate.
As to Gaza, the mess in Gaza is entirely the problem of Hamas who wrested all the territory away from the Palestinian Authority after Israel PM  Ariel Sharon unilaterally relinquished Israel’s jurisdiction over Gaza in a misguided gesture of “peace” in August 2005.
Sharon had the Israel Defense  Forces forcibly remove 8600 well established Israeli residents of a thriving community of productive green houses, which the Arabs promptly destroyed when given the land and against their own financial self interests.
It is often said that one can be judged by the company one keeps. In Sander’s case, that concept is an absolute road map.
Sanders has allied with surrogates like Linda Sarsour, a vehement anti- Jewish anti-Israel activist, and Rashida Tlaib, a Michigan congresswoman, who are harshly critical of Israel — not just because of its policies, but of its status as a Jewish state.
He has also enthusiastically  teamed up with Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez,
the millennial “it girl” of modern progressivism who is he hopes propping up the septuagenarian socialist senator  “This is not just about running for president,” she said in a video announcing her support. “This is about creating a mass movement.” Whatever that means.
Ocasio-Cortez was joined in her endorsement by Minnesota Rep. Ilhan Omar. “Proud to endorse @SenSanders for President, glad that @AOC and @RashidaTlaib are on board too,” she tweeted. “It’s time.”
You may remember In February, Omar responded to a tweet from journalist Glenn Greenwald, who posted about House GOP Leader Kevin McCarthy threatening to punish Omar and another congresswoman for being critical of Israel.
Omar wrote back, “It’s all about the Benjamins baby,” a line about $100 bills from a Puff Daddy song. Critics jumped on the tweet and said Omar was calling up a negative and harmful stereotype of Jewish Americans.
In another tweet soon after, Omar named the American Israel Public Affairs Committee, or AIPAC, saying it was funding Republican support for Israel, which is another complete lie. This tweet received bipartisan backlash, and Omar was widely accused of anti-Semitic speech.
Rashida Tlaib (MI Rep) also dived into the hate speech There was this headline back in January from a New York Post editorial: “Rashida Tlaib casually dives into anti-Semitism”
The focus of the editorial was Tlaib’s remark in support of the anti-Israel Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) movement and her criticism of colleagues who supported Israel. Tlaib said: “They forgot what country they represent.”
This drew an immediate rebuke from the Jewish Democratic Council of America and the Anti-Defamation League. Senator Marco Rubio (R-FL) said this: “This ‘dual loyalty’ canard is a typical anti-Semitic line. BDS isn’t about freedom & equality, it’s about destroying Israel.”
You may also remember the charade Rashida Tlaib pulled pretending to want to visit her aged, sick grandmother in Israel. Her real mission was of course to thickly spread anti-Israel hatred in the country. PM Netanyahu opposed the visit for awhile but then under US administrative pressure okayed it with the proviso that Tlaib could not travel around the country spewing her poison. At that point Tlaib suddenly lost interest in visiting her sick grandmother.
Then there was Sanders confusing equivocal position on BDS (Boycott, Divest and Sanction Israel)
Sens. Marco Rubio, R-Fla., and James Risch, R-Idaho introduced the first bill to be considered in the Republican-led Senate, consolidating four bills that languished in the last Congress: One codifies into law $38 billion in defense assistance for Israel over 10 years; another protects states that pass laws against the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions movement targeting Israel, including states that ban contracts with Israel boycotters.
Bernie Sanders quickly reacted and blasted the introduction of anti-BDS bill as ‘absurd’
WASHINGTON, Jan. 28 – “While I do not support the BDS movement, we must defend every American’s constitutional right to engage in political activity. It is clear to me that this bill would violate Americans’ First Amendment rights.
Although Sanders has grandstanded his opposition to BDS, especially before Jewish audience, when push came to shove, he voted against the Marco Rubio/James Risch legislation which put teeth into the States ability to act against BDS. Just another example of  Sander’s hypocrisy and sham support of Israel and Jewish causes.
In summary, those who say you are known by the bedfellows you keep are dead right. A golf buddy savant of mine said it a little differently. He always reminded his daughters that “When you lie down with dogs, you get fleas.”  I guess Sander’s father forgot to remind him of that. Maybe it is time the voters of this beautiful country did?

Capitalism Works. Socialism Doesn't

Warren Buffett Blasts Socialism: Capitalism ‘Absolutely a Miracle’ for the US

Warren Buffett Blasts Socialism: Capitalism ‘Absolutely a Miracle’ for the US
Warren Buffett rejected socialist ideas gaining momentum among the far left, delivering a resounding endorsement of capitalism and the free market on Monday in an interview with CNBC.
“If you look at what was here in 1776 and you look at what’s here now, this country has done an incredible job in terms of the deployment of resources and human ingenuity,” Buffett told CNBC’s Becky Quick. “The idea of people unleashing their potential … it’s absolutely a miracle.
“I’m a card-carrying capitalist.”
Buffett is of course keeping a close eye on the Democratic primary field, which includes a self-described “Democratic Socialist” (though he’s a millionaire) in Bernie Sanders, I-Vt. Buffett said “we win hands down” in the U.S. compared to Socialist countries, and that “we’re just getting started with what capitalism can do.”
“Does that mean that every decision should be made by open market determinants? No, there’s need for regulation,” Buffett said. “Human ingenuity is incredible, and you want something that maximizes its use, and then curbs, on a few of the ideas that some of those people may have to sort of have it for all themselves.”
Per CNBC:
Sitting next to Buffett, Microsoft co-founder and philanthropist Bill Gates told CNBC on Monday, “Some people think when you defend capitalism you’re defending the tax rates.” He said that is not the case. Gates and Buffett for years have called for higher taxes on wealthy individuals, like themselves, to fund social safety nets and pay down the country’s debt. They have also maintained the rich are being undertaxed compared with working Americans.
Other titans of industry — such as J.P Morgan CEO Jamie Dimon and hedge fund founder Ray Dalio — have expressed similar views when it comes to the need to reduce wealth inequality in the United States through higher taxes and investment.
The candidates seeking the Democratic presidential nomination — Sens. Sanders and Elizabeth Warren included — are running on this very platform of getting the rich to pay more of their fair share. President Donald Trump has sought to narrow the income gap by spurring economic growth with tax cuts for individuals and businesses, on the thought that more money in the pockets of consumers and corporations will mean more money finding its way into the economy.

Will Democrats Pull A Hillary Again?

Top Pundit: Dem Establishment Terrified Bernie Sanders Will Win White House

Top Pundit: Dem Establishment Terrified Bernie Sanders Will Win White House
According to a top progressive pundit, Democrats are getting nervous about Bernie Sanders, a Democratic Socialist (millionaire), and it’s not because they don’t think he can win the White House in 2020.
“Bernie right now has a better chance of winning than the rest of field combined.”
It’s because they think he can — and that terrifies them.
The Independent from Vermont has surprised the establishment with his strong performance and the big money he’s raised, which is more than any other Democratic candidate so far. Sanders is polling second only to former Vice President Joe Biden, a moderate, centrist Democrat who hasn’t even formally entered the race yet.
According to CNBC, Sanders has even overtaken Biden in a recent Emerson poll released Tuesday after raising more than $18 million during the first quarter of 2019.
And he already has an established, fervent base of supporters from his 2016 candidacy.
Per CNBC:
“Bernie right now has a better chance of winning than the rest of field combined,” said Cenk Uygur, founder of progressive news network TYT and host of “The Young Turks,” who supported Sanders in 2016. Uygur has not decided whom he will back in 2020, but says he likes Sanders and Sen. Elizabeth Warren, D-Mass.
Uygur said the establishment’s concerns about Sanders raised in a New York Times article on Tuesday, will only make Sanders stronger.
The article quotes party insiders who fear that Sanders’ campaign will complicate efforts to defeat Trump. Their goal is to stop him from gaining more ground and certainly to thwart his chances of becoming the Democratic 2020 nominee.
David Brock, a political consultant, told the Times: “There’s a growing realization that Sanders could end up winning this thing, or certainly that he stays in so long that he damages the actual winner.”
Brock told the paper that he has had discussions with other operatives about an anti-Sanders campaign and believes it should commence “sooner rather than later.”
The Sanders campaign was not available for comment. The Democratic National Committee did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
Already, a fight has erupted between Sanders and the Center for American Progress, a think tank that has ties to Hillary Clinton.
But Uygur sees another reason for the establishment’s concerns about Sanders: “The big Dem donors are not worried he’s going to lose the general election, they’re worried he’s going to win,” he tweeted on Tuesday.
Uygur’s point is that big money donors who back mainstream candidates will lose their positions of power in the face of a Sanders win. A political system corrupted by corporate cash and influence, he said, will finally fall if the democratic socialist who has proposed “Medicare for All,” free college education and a $15 minimum wage is elected.
“The people with the most money will lose all power, they will not be rewarded,” he said. “All their power is in giving money to politicians and controlling them. Bernie Sanders doesn’t want their money. They are going to fight Bernie Sanders harder than any Republican will.”
That could be a dangerous game: Attacking Sanders will “force everyone to rally around him,” Uygur said. “That’s why Bernie has always stood an excellent chance of winning. They can’t take away a small donor base. The more they attack him, the more he will raise.”
Indeed, the Sanders’ campaign is already fundraising on the party conflict, dashing off a pitch this week that read in part: “The Democratic establishment and high-dollar donors are already planning how to stop our campaign. They are terrified of our movement — as they should be.”
Ryan Grim, Washington bureau chief for progressive news site The Intercept, a former contributor to MSNBC and a contributor to the Young Turks Network also believes that establishment Democrats are afraid a Sanders win could upend the entire system they operate within.
“They couch that fear in claims that they’re worried he’ll lose,” he told CNBC. “Change is scary.”
Margo Baldwin, president of Vermont-based Chelsea Green Publishing, called the Democratic establishment “part of the power elite in bed with the banks and the moneyed interests.” The company published “Rules for Revolutionaries ” by former Sanders’ campaign staffers Becky Bond and Zack Exley, as well as “Essential Bernie Sanders and his Vision for America ” by Jonathan Tasini. “They don’t like Trump, but they don’t want to see real change,” Baldwin added.
She joked that the party doesn’t seem to like winning either, adding that they “can trot out Biden and they will lose.”
But Markos Moulitsas, founder and publisher of liberal blog Daily Kos said it’s not fear, “it’s frustration” that party insiders are feeling. He said in an email that Sanders is “a divisive person” who “roils the party.”
“As for the big donors, the best way to fight them is to build a small dollar machine that will power candidates at all levels of office,” Moulitsas said. He added, “But even if we succeed in building an entire party of small dollar donors, weep not for big corporate money. They’ll always have Republicans to buy.”
It’s certainly too early to tell where the race will end up, but for Sanders’ supporters, a replay of the infighting that happened in 2016 will not go over well.
“There will be no end to the fury,” Uygur said.

Bernie Sanders continually bemoans the supposed greediness of America's upper class, who consistently give the most to charity overall and as a percentage of their income.

However, newly released tax returns show Sanders – now officially a member of the one percent – has a fascinating history. As the senator's income has risen over the past decade, he has barely given to charity, between one to four percent of his income in a given year.

Per the Daily Wire:

In fact, in 2016, he made over $1,062, 626 and gave slightly more than $10,600, which just so happens to amount to 1%. He got called out:

Considering how stingy Sanders is when it comes to charity, let’s review what he has said about people who make a lot of money and greedily hold on to it: Writing in the Burlington Free Press in May, 2011, Sanders stated, "As Vermont's senator and a member of the Budget Committee, I will not support a plan to reduce the deficit that does not call for shared sacrifice … At a time when the top one percent earns more income than the bottom 50 percent, we must ask the wealthiest people in this country to start paying their fair share of taxes … Every segment of our society, including those who have money and power, must contribute and must sacrifice."

The New York Times reported in 1981 that Sanders was hostile to charities:
For the kickoff of the 40th annual Chittenden County United Way fund-raising drive in Burlington, Vt., the sponsors considered themselves fortunate to have as guests Mayor Bernard Sanders of Burlington and Gov. Richard Snelling of Vermont. But the charity workers heard the sort of things they wanted to hear from only one of their guests. ''I don't believe in charities,'' said Mayor Sanders, bringing a shocked silence to a packed hotel banquet room. The Mayor, who is a Socialist, went on to question the ''fundamental concepts on which charities are based'' and contended that government, rather than charity organizations, should take over responsibility for social programs.

Sanders Getting More "Out There"!

Sanders Unveils 'Plan' To Give Every American A Government Job. There's Only One Problem.

Bernie Sanders
On Monday, socialist Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders announced a plan to give every American a job, apparently after reading Marx and then eating a pudding cup while watching the movie Dave. As The Washington Post reports:
Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) will announce a plan for the federal government to guarantee a job paying $15 an hour and health-care benefits to every American worker “who wants or needs one,” embracing the kind of large-scale government works project that Democrats have shied away from in recent decades.
Where will these jobs come from? Public works projects a la the failed projects of FDR that helped lengthen the Great Depression by seven years. Sanders’ proposal would give every American the opportunity for a job working for the government. The best part of The Washington Post report, though, is this line highlighted by Elliott Hamilton:
A representative from Sanders's office said they had not yet done a cost estimate for the plan or decided how it would be funded, saying they were still crafting the proposal.
Of course Sanders hasn’t estimated cost or figured out how to fund it. That’s not his problem. Taxing people at inordinately high rates and destroying the economy matter less than achieving chimerical “fairness” on the basis of redistribution, even if everyone’s living standard declines. But The Washington Post shills for the plan anyway:
Job guarantee advocates say their plan would drive up wages by significantly increasing competition for workers, ensuring that corporations have to offer more generous salaries and benefits if they want to keep their employees from working for the government. Supporters say it also would reduce racial inequality, because black workers face unemployment at about twice the rates of white workers, as well as gender inequality, because many iterations of the plan call for the expansion of federal child-care work.
This is idiotic. If jobs programs from the government drive up wages due to competition, they also drive up unemployment, as economists from UCLA found about FDR’s policies:
In the three years following the implementation of Roosevelt's policies, wages in 11 key industries averaged 25 percent higher than they otherwise would have done, the economists calculate. But unemployment was also 25 percent higher than it should have been, given gains in productivity. Meanwhile, prices across 19 industries averaged 23 percent above where they should have been, given the state of the economy. With goods and services that much harder for consumers to afford, demand stalled and the gross national product floundered at 27 percent below where it otherwise might have been.
As for the idea that government employment reduces racial inequality and gender inequality, the pathetic idea that black people and women can’t compete in the American economy is a solid case study in the soft bigotry of low expectations — creating make-work programs for minorities is a backhanded slap at groups that supposedly can’t handle the free market.
If creating jobs were merely as simple as having the government hire people, the Soviet Union would have been a wonderful place to live. But creating useful jobs means allowing the market to do its work. Fortunately for Sanders, he doesn’t care about useful jobs — he cares about useful votes and utopian visions of government as God. But his foolish utopianism is now being reflected across the Democratic Party, with pandering, histrionic Senator Cory Booker (D-NJ) mirroring his plan as well as charisma-free Senator Kirsten Gillibrand (D-NY).
Americans may fall for this routine — after all, big promises from politicians aren't exactly rare. But if they do, they'll pay the price in inflation, unemployment, and economic stagnation.

Democrats Hated Comey Before The Election, Now They Love Him?

[Must see] James Comey DESTROYED in 0:57 video

Disgraced former FBI Director James Comey made headlines Sunday with salacious, over-the-top attacks on President Donald Trump.
But one viral video exposes Comey’s dishonesty in less than a minute — and the footage is something everyone in America needs to see.
The video isn’t about Trump’s insensitive tweets. It’s not Fox News stars pointing out liberal hypocrisy. It doesn’t point out that Comey’s sensationalized claims are just to sell copies of his new book.
It’s much, much more powerful than that. This video uses the own words of liberal Democrats to prove Comey is completely untrustworthy.
Nancy Pelosi. Chuck Schumer. Bernie Sanders. Tim Kaine. Maxine Waters. The video contains a who’s who of anti-Trump politicians going on television last year to say that Comey isn’t the “right man for the job” and has “no credibility.”
In the video, put together by the Republican National Committee, these top Democratic leaders call Comey “untrustworthy” and say he should be fired for his partizan witch hunts that have forever tainted the image of the FBI.
his isn’t the kind of footage you’ll see in the mainstream media, of course. The legacy media delights too much in the “hysterical” exploitation of Comey’s dislike of the president.
But the truth is simple: Even career Democrats say that Americans can’t trust Comey.
