This Is The Type Of Government You Get With Socialism

Socialist Dictator Indicted
(UnitedVoice.com) – The United States has been at war with illegal narcotics for decades. For the most part, the war has never been overly successful. That’s changing.
Recently, Project Python, an operation led by the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), dealt a massive blow to Cártel de Jalisco Nueva Generación (CJNG), a Mexican drug cartel. A series of raids captured millions of dollars and sent hundreds of cartel members to jail. With that success under their belt, the Trump administration is adding a new target to their crosshairs: a socialist South American dictator.
Thursday, Attorney General, William Barr, revealed an indictment for Nicolas Maduro, the President of Venezuela. In his briefing, Barr called out Maduro for working with the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC). He claimed Maduro both funded and protected FARC while they carried out narco-terrorism.
In addition to Maduro, a large number of former and current Venezuelan officials were also indicted. The State Department did not stop at indictments either; they put bounties out for information leading to the capture of Maduro and four other officials. The current offering for the President is $15 Million dollars.
President Trump and his team are taking the battle to the drug lords, regardless of where they may be hiding. From here in the United States with Project Python, to foreign leaders in South America, criminals everywhere are on notice.

Is This The Disruption That China Wanted?

Latest UN Report Forecasts Grave Economic Consequences From COVID-19 Shutdowns

The latest report from the U.N. agency that monitors worldwide trade and investment predicts a global decline in foreign direct investment of 30%-40% during 2020-2021.
While earlier concerns had focused on disruptions of supply chains linked to China, current fears are much more strongly connected to the downturn in global demand due to quarantines, lockdowns, business closures, and employment furloughs.
According to the U.N. Conference on Trade and Development, the hardest hit industries so far are energy (earnings projected to drop in 2020 by 208%), airlines (-116%), and the automotive industry (-47%). But others are catching up fast, with hotels, basic materials, and all industrials facing double digit declines.
The huge drop in energy sector earnings is particularly troubling, since that sector accounted for 1 in 5 investment dollars last year.
In these trying times, we must turn to the greatest document in the history of the world to promise freedom and opportunity to its citizens for guidance. Find out more now >>
The agency’s latest assessment is far more severe than earlier projections:
Now the rapid worldwide spread of the pandemic and the implementation of mitigation and lockdown measures across much of the world have made a far larger demand shock and supply disruption inevitable and the consensus is that most if not all major economies will experience a deep recession.
There is one ray of hope: “If the policy response proves effective recovery could be relatively quick when delayed investments are brought back on track.”
One such response highlighted by the U.N. Conference on Trade and Development is accelerated depreciation of post-pandemic capital expenditures.
It’s a gloomy picture overall, but highlights the importance of getting Americans (and people all over the world) back to work as soon as possible.

ACT-CHECK: CNN runs a misleading 'fact-check' on Trump's coronavirus testing levels claim

Yes, the United States has tested more people than any other country

Ali Balkci/Anadolu Agency/Getty Images
CNN incorrectly "fact-checked" President Donald Trump in real-time during his daily coronavirus task force briefing on Friday. As the president was discussing testing levels in the United States, the network ran a misleading chyron indicating he was wrong to claim the U.S. led the world in coronavirus testing.

What did President Trump say?

For several days, Trump has noted that the U.S. is surpassing South Korea and other countries when it comes to coronavirus testing. For instance, at a press conference on Wednesday, he said:
Just reported that the United States has done far more 'testing' than any other nation, by far. In fact, over an eight day span, the United States now does more testing than what South Korea (which has been a very successful tester) does over an eight week span.
The claim has been echoed by members of his administration, including Dr. Deborah Birx who indicated on Tuesday:
We now have 370,000 tests that have been done. The majority of those -- over 220,000 in the last eight days, which, those of you who have been tracking the South Korea numbers, put us equivalent to what they did in eight weeks that we did in eight days.
Trump and Birx are clearly comparing testing levels in absolute — not per capita — terms.

What's wrong with CNN's 'fact-check'?

"TRUMP INCORRECTLY SAYS U.S. HAS TESTED MORE THAN ANYONE; PER CAPITA, SOUTH KOREA HAS DONE 5X MORE, ITALY 4X MORE," CNN's chyron read.
The network, and other media outlets, have run similar fact-checks in news articles:
While the US has overtaken South Korea in total numbers of coronavirus tests administered, it has conducted far fewer tests per capita given the US population is more than six times larger than South Korea's.
In other words, CNN and others are accusing Trump of lying for using absolute figures (raw totals) when comparing the numbers of tests performed across countries, rather than per capita levels. But the president never claimed the U.S. leads the world on a per capita basis. Plainly stated, he is being "fact-checked" on something he never said.

What the data show: U.S. and South Korea

According to the COVID Tracking Project which collects testing data from the public health departments of all 50 states and U.S. territories, the U.S. has performed 672,449 as of Saturday morning that have produced either a positive or negative result. If you add the number of pending cases, the figure comes out to 730,799 COVID-19 tests that have been performed in the U.S.
The number may be even higher. As the COVID Tracking Project notes, reporting standards vary by state with some doing a better job at sharing data from commercial and university labs than others.
Meanwhile, official data from the Korea Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (질병관리본부) shows that South Korea has performed 387,925 COVID-19 tests through March 28.
So yes, Trump and Dr. Birx are both correct. The U.S. has surpassed South Korea in the number of coronavirus tests and is testing at a faster rate. As Bloomberg columnist Noah Smith explained on Twitter, on March 26, South Korea performed 12,019 tests or 235 per million population on March 26. In comparison, America performed 107,172 tests, or 325 tests per one million people, on the same day.

Testing varies by state

In total, the U.S. has tested approximately 2,211 people for every 1 million as of Saturday morning, which is surpassed by some countries based on best available data, but America's coronavirus testing levels also vary by state.
For instance, the state of New York has conducted 145,753 tests as of Friday night, which comes out to 7,459 tests per 1 million residents. If New York were a country, its per capita basis testing levels would surpass those of South Korea, which has tested 7,323 for every 1 million people.
Using a coronavirus tests per 1 million residents standard, certain American states — like Washington (6,994), Louisiana (4,583), Massachusetts (4,257), and New Mexico (4,481) — would be world leaders, surpassing countries like the United Kingdom (1,817 as of March 28) and Sweden (1,017 as of March 25).

CNN's standard is inconsistent

Finally, it is worth noting that CNN does not have a consistent standard when it comes to coronavirus data and whether results and testing figures should be reported on a per capita or absolute (raw total) basis.
For instance, a Friday morning headline on CNN.com said: "US has more known cases of coronavirus than any other country." This is true in absolute terms (though many suspect the China's levels are much higher than what the government is reporting). However, on a per capita basis, Iceland, Italy, Spain, Switzerland, Austria, Belgium, Norway, Germany, Netherlands, Portugal, France, Ireland, Estonia, Israel, Denmark, and numerous small countries surpass the U.S. when it comes to confirmed coronavirus cases per 1 million people.
In short, CNN is fact-checking Trump on things he never said. Its standards — whether it uses per capita or absolute totals — also appears to change depending on whether it can damage him politically. If CNN wants to do that, they should not call it journalism or "fact-checking" — it is partisan hackery.

Gun Haters Never Stop Their Attack On The Second Amendment

Anti-Gun Politicians Using the Pandemic to Advance Their Anti-Second Amendment Agenda

This is dirty!
Opponents of private firearms ownership are always looking for ways to keep people from buying, possessing or using firearms for legitimate purposes. They refuse to acknowledge the rights protected by the Second Amendment of the Constitution which was included in the Bill of Rights by America’s founders to prohibit the new government they were creating from “infringing” on the pre-existing right of people to protect themselves, their communities and their families from those who would deprive them of their freedom.
When Hurricane Katrina in 2005 devastated New Orleans, the Mayor sent police house to house to confiscate firearms from law-abiding citizens even as marauding gangs were looting the city. They were stopped only after gun owners got a federal court to put a stop to the practice.
It’s happening again in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic and not just in New Orleans. Anti-gun politicians across the country are using the pandemic to advance their anti-Second Amendment agenda in new and sometimes imaginative ways. New Orleans is suspending gun sales. New Jersey has said they will no longer process firearms transfers through the federal National Instant Check System which makes them, in effect, illegal and other states are closing gun stores as “non-essential.”
Colorado, a center of “progressivism” in the mountains has, at the state level at least, refused to shut down firearms sales, but the Mayor of Denver announced this week that while he considers liquor stores and marijuana retailers “essential” enterprises exempt from the shutdown I effect there, firearms retailers do not qualify for the exemption as “essential.”
All of this is happening in jurisdictions where police are instructed to ease up on law enforcement and prisoners are being released from jails and prisons. Citizens who can no longer rely at all on the police for protection in these jurisdictions are now being told they have no right to legally obtain the firearms they want and need to protect themselves, their homes and their families. Such protection goes to the core of the Second Amendment especially at a time when law enforcement is often consciously AWOL.
These efforts will continue and increase as the shutdown continues. Liberals are appalled at the fact that since the pandemic began firearms sales have been increasing as more and more Americans are deciding that if they aren’t prepared to protect their families, no one will.
The National Rifle Association has just launched a new website designed to keep firearms owners and Second Amendment supporters apprised of these new threats to the Second Amendment. It’s to be found at www.nraila.org/coronavirus and those concerned about their rights in these challenging times would be wise to keep up with how the gun control community is working to take advantage of a crisis to enact new restrictions on those rights.

Are Death Panels On The Way Back?

A Civilized Society Does Not Kill Its Senior Citizens

As the coronavirus ramps up fear around the world, discussion of medical-care rationing (“death panels”) is back in the news.  The concept of death panels is an old favorite of authoritarian governments, particularly those on the Radical Left.  To most people, the idea of human beings deciding whether someone should live or die is repugnant, but to the Radical Left it’s a simple way to eliminate those it deems to be undesirable.
Democrat elites target the most vulnerable among us, those who have no means of defending themselves.  For at least a hundred years, dating back to eugenicist Margaret Sanger, the low-hanging fruit for bloodthirsty Democrats has been babies in the womb and the elderly.  Euphemisms like “reproductive health” and “a woman’s right to choose” are used to make the murder of unborn babies seem humane and reasonable.
As to the elderly, a civilized society does not kill its senior citizens.  It cherishes them for their wisdom and for lending their shoulders to future generations.  Every elderly person should be given everything he/she needs to be comfortable and to extend his/her life before a single dollar is spent on someone who is not a citizen or permanent resident of the United States.
It’s not a matter of having anything against people from other countries.  Rather, it’s a matter of allocating scarce resources.  The Radical Left believes those resources should go to those whom it believes have their most productive years ahead of them, while civilized, compassionate people of goodwill believe those resources should go first to those who have already contributed their most productive years to society.
It is yet another example of why it’s not possible to heal the divide between true right and true left.  Republicans who rush to compromise with the Radical Left are not true to the conservative principles they claim to believe in, thus the moniker RINOs.  When they insist that the only way to get anything done in Washington is to compromise with the enemy, they are exposing their lack of principle.
Plain and simple, to try to compromise between good and evil is, in itself, evil.  There is no compromise when it comes to protecting the lives of the elderly.

COVID Irony: Release Prisoners, Jail Quarantine Violators

COVID Irony: Release Prisoners, Jail Quarantine Violators
(AmericanProsperity.com) – As the highly infectious COVID-19 spreads across the country, many jails have begun releasing inmates to deal with overcrowding and contain the spread of the virus. At the same time, some states have been threatening jail time against those who violate quarantine orders.
In Hawaii, Gov. David Ige is threatening jail time for anyone who disobeys his order to stay inside. The only exceptions are for obtaining health care or food, taking care of others, or exercising. In addition, Ige has also signed an order to quarantine all incoming residents and tourists for 14 days. Disobeying could result in a $5,000 fine or one year behind bars.
Other states currently threatening jail time for violating quarantine or isolation orders include Alaska, California, Michigan, Mississippi, and New Jersey. Charges are misdemeanors and, depending on the state, violators could face fines and jail time up to a year. Mississippi is the exception with a maximum punishment of up to five years in jail.
It’s clear they’re taking this pandemic seriously, and so should we.

Michigan Guv Declares War On Potential Coronavirus Cure

Opinion: Michigan’s doctors fight coronavirus, and governor's office

LINKEDINCOMMENTMORE
The coronavirus is unquestionably a significant threat to the health and safety of people throughout the world. The infection’s worldwide death toll is more than 23,000 and counting, 1,163 in the United States and 60 here in Michigan.
There is a silver lining however, in the numbers of people who are recovering from COVID-19 — more than 122,000 at this writing.
Even greater hope lies in a promising new treatment using a combination of old drugs: Plaquenil (hydroxychloroquine) and a Z-Pak (azithromycin).
These well-known drugs have very favorable safety profiles. Several small studies have shown significant reduction in viral loads and symptom improvement when combining these medications in COVID-19 patients. Though these studies are small and do not prove efficacy, the results were so promising that the authors of the most famous study concluded:
“We therefore recommend that COVID-19 patients be treated with hydroxychloroquine and azithromycin to cure their infection and to limit the transmission of the virus to other people in order to curb the spread of COVID-19 in the world.”
Based on these and other results physicians and governments around the world are now using these medications to claimed great effect. Even in the state of Michigan, prominent hospitals such as the Henry Ford Hospital and the University of Michigan have added hydroxychloroquine to their treatment protocols for hospitalized patients with COVID-19.
By doing so, physicians are using these medications “off-label,” that is, without the costly and time-consuming process of Food and Drug Administration approval. The federal agency’s approval process performs the good task of helping to ensure medications safely do what they claim to do. However, lack of FDA approval does not mean lack of efficacy. It means lack of governmental confirmation of efficacy.
“Off-label” use of medications is legal and common. It may even account for as many as 1 in 5 prescriptions in the United States. This practice is even accepted by the FDA. Furthermore, given the severity of the COVID-19 pandemic and the promise of these medications the FDA has avoided condemning the “off-label” use of hydroxychloroquine for COVID-19.
But if you live in Michigan, and you or a loved one is infected with this potentially lethal disease, you’re out of luck.
Gov. Gretchen Whitmer’s Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs literally threatened all doctors and pharmacists in the state who prescribe or dispense hydroxychloroquine to treat COVID-19.
The agency’s March 24 letter warns physicians and pharmacists of professional consequences for the prescribing of hydroxychloroquine (and chloroquine). Beyond the rational recommendation against hoarding as production of this medication needs to be ramped up, the letter deviates into open threats of “administrative action” against the licenses of doctors that prescribe hydroxychloroquine.
The letter also instructs pharmacists to ignore physician orders for this medication. Due to the debate over a pharmacist’s right to refuse to fill medications that go against their religious beliefs, this could place pharmacists in the unprecedented position of being told that they must fill prescriptions that violate their “conscience (religious belief)” but must not fill prescriptions to treat COVID-19.
Even worse, the letter indicates health care providers are “required to report” their fellow physicians who are prescribing these medications. This draconian measure carries ominous Gestapo-like overtones of neighbor reporting neighbor to “authorities.”
During a time of crisis, in which physicians continue to see patients despite not having enough protective gear, this threatening, authoritarian stance from our governor is counterproductive at best.
What makes this directive more of a head-scratcher is that the same day the state issued its threatening nastygram to Michigan’s health care providers, Whitmer’s counterpart in New York started clinical trials of the very same drugs.
With his state now the nation’s pandemic epicenter, and with the blessing and help of the president and FDA, New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo brought in 70,000 doses of hydroxychloroquine, 10,000 doses of Zithromax and 750,000 doses of chloroquine.
The implications of Whitmer and her administration’s knee-jerk scare tactics should terrify all Michigan residents. Not only is our state’s top leader threatening the selfless health care workers who are on the frontline trying to save lives, but she’s denying possible life-saving medications to actual COVID-19 victims.
