Hillary Clinton has offered Women from Muslim Countries a free education in the US at the expense of American taxpayers. Don't we have a spending problem in this country? Why should we give away free educations to foreigners? This is ludicrous!
The new program called NeXXt, encourages Muslim women to come here and attend colleges and get degrees in science and technology. OK that is fine but it should not be done for free. If we are going to do that, why not offer the same benefit to Americans?
At a time when our debt now equals our annual GDP, does it make any sense to add programs which will only make the debt increase further? Or is this just another meaningless outreach to Muslims? Before you insist that it is open to all comers, try to be a non-Muslim and get the benefit? This is an outright pandering to those of the Islamic religion.
Will these new graduates stay here and repay this country for its generosity or will they return to their countries of origin? They might stay here after their education is finished by overstaying their education visa--remember the 9/11 hijackers? Or they could go home and completely waste the education we have given them.
Regardless, this is a waste of money, another foolhardy liberal attempt to curry favor with Muslims around the world. We must look like fools! Hey, we are!

P.S. After we got ready to post this article, it occurred to us that providing education to women only is discriminatory and breaks the equal protection laws of this country. Oh, we forgot, we can make all sorts of choices and break all sorts of laws as long as the goal is good. This is a dumb idea and should never see the light of day!

Hillary Clinton Offers 'World Class' Education in the U.S. to Women from Muslim Countries

Secretary of State Hillary Clinton announced the NeXXt Scholars partnership last month, and her remarks were posted on the State Department Web site Monday.
"Today's next Madame Curie could be sitting in a high school classroom in Cairo, Jakarta, or Mogadishu, yearning for opportunities to explore her potential. The United States is determined to help give her that chance."
Clinton said the scholarship program will "create new opportunities for women from predominantly Muslim nations to pursue world-class undergraduate educations in science, technology, engineering, and math."
Clinton made the announcement in a video address at the New York Academy of Sciences on Dec. 10, Nobel Prize Day. She noted that Marie Curie was the first scientist to be awarded two Nobel Prizes.
"Advancing opportunities for women around the globe is an issue that is important to me and a core element of my agenda as Secretary of State. By providing women with better access to educational opportunities, the NeXXt Scholars program will help arm a new generation of women to be change agents in their communities and prepare them to become the next Madame Curies."
The State Department said it is partnering with nearly 40 women's colleges to provide a "high-quality" education in science, technology, engineering and math. In addition, the scholarship program will provide mentorship, networking, support, and enrichment activities for the foreign students -- and for American students who will be nominated to serve as a "STEM-sister." (STEM stands for science, technology, engineering and math.)
The New York Academy of Sciences will support the program by providing the foreigners with five-year Academy memberships which includes access to internship and research opportunities.
Although the scholarship program is aimed at young women in predominantly Muslim countries, students from any religious group or economic status are eligible for the program, the State Department said.
Students must apply directly to participating U.S. women’s colleges, be accepted by the college, and major in a science-math-technology field.

This is yet another stepping stone toward globalization. Muslim culture continues to seep into our contry and rob us of our homogeniety and this is definitely by design. This cannot be allowed to happen! Oh and on a side note, I'm not sure if a scholarship available only to women is discriminatory, I am wrong or have there been scholarships available only to women in this country for a while? Please correct me if I am wrong.
ReplyDeleteChris, if you are right and now women make up 65% or so of college admissions, isn't that a bit crazy? Discrimination in my little pea brain is anytime one person gains an advantage over another due to some made up criteria. Whether it is because you are female, right handed, Hispanic, African american or male, any arbitrary criteria is wrong. It should be based on merit or need and any other criteria should be thrown out!
ReplyDeleteA couple years ago, the University of Michigan had this criteria for admission which had a point scale. African Americans were given 25 points to start off, regardless of their socio-economic level. A son of a NBA star would be advantaged over a white daughter of someone who was a plumber. Is that fair? Heck no! The Michigan criteria was thrown out and for good reason and so should any preferences for women.
