George Takei of "Enterprise" fame posted the following quote from Thomas Jefferson on his Facebook page and we could not agree more. It is our modus operandi! Unfortunately in the divided country that we have today, it seems that most people would rather withdraw from someone who has a difference of opinion rather than have a discussion. We do not mean an argument but a real exchange of ideas. This has lead to the division this country is experiencing and it is not good.
As for Conservative Musings, we might disagree with what you say, (we might even think that your parents were not married when you were born!!) but we will never call names, demean or ridicule you in print. (Although we might feel like it!) A healthy discussion is important and once two people (or more) cannot do that the very nature of the country is damaged.
So, next time, you disagree, let us know. We are big boys and can take it. Make your point and maybe we might even agree with you!

Thanks Tom. This is why I come here to read and post every day.
ReplyDeleteAs far as Obama's second term, the thing I worry about is getting into another major war in Iran.
I am still predicting that the country goes over the "fiscal cliff" on January 1. Then -- when the next debt ceiling crisis comes (March?) --there will be another compromise that restores the Bush tax cuts to everybody except the top rate remains at 39%. There will be more cuts in discretionary spending. The size of the deficit reduction package should be in the $5 trillion range (combining revenue increases and spending cuts), but I will be surprised if Congress can get there. They have a 9% approval rating for very good reasons.

Thanks David, your comment made my day!
ReplyDeleteI agree with your assessment on the budget. Nothing of consequence will happen and we will just push off any solutions until there is no answer which probably will occur in the next two years!
