More on Guns Saving Lives

Guns Save Lives; Why Aren’t the Stories Reported?

December 31, 2012
By
Responsible adults with guns save lives in America all the time, yet the stories of heroism are rarely reported beyond the local news. Are these stories not newsworthy? Are people not interested in stories of self-defense?
Stories of brave individuals should be reported more often in the mainstream media, as they are inspiring, interesting, and newsworthy. However, the tales of responsible gun-owners saving lives give credibility to Second Amendment advocates. In the biased mainstream media, much more coverage is given to those who favor the illusion of safety by legislating to the margins, who do not follow the laws anyway.
Consider the story of Davon Obryant Gee, 19, who attempted to use a stun gun on a 17-year-old girl during an argument. She ran, but Gee caught up with her and started beating her on the lawn outside of a house in Evansville, Indiana. A young child was in the house at the time. Her grandfather warned Gee to stop “several times,” but was ultimately forced to shoot the attacker, who was threatening to use the stun gun on the 79-year-old man with a heart condition.
In Harris County, Texas, a man was awakened at 2:00 am on Thursday morning by the sound of glass shattering. He got up to investigate and found a man entering his condo through a window. The 22-year-old intruder ignored a warning for him to leave. The quick-thinking homeowner, who had his “Concealed Handgun License,” shot the man, who later died.
Sometimes, guns save lives. But this reality is rarely reported past the local news.
More examples, and some others from the past week alone, can be found at the links below.
