Where Is America's Missile Defense

Once again it appears as if Ronald Reagan was correct. The US needs a missile defense against idiots that run third world cesspools like North Korea and Iran. Normal sane people like those in Russia during the Cold War understood the destruction a nuclear bomb would make. Not so for these idiots. Isn't it time we built  a network to knock down these errant rockets and their devastating payloads?

Yet, where is Obama? Sitting on his hands. We are sure that if the time comes when a nuke does hit an American city, he will blame the Republicans for not budgeting it, for the military for not knocking it down and the CIA for not letting him know there was a problem. He, of course, is blameless! What a failure of a President!

Commentator Ben Stein wants to know why the United States isn't “working, hell for leather,” to create an Iron Dome system that will protect the United States from nuclear attack.

“Ronald Reagan was totally right when he said he wanted a ballistic missile defense system comprehensive enough to protect the U.S. from ICBM attacks,” he said in a CBS News commentary this morning. “His liberal opponents scoffed and called it "Star Wars," and said it couldn't possibly work. They blocked money for its deployment on any scale. Nevertheless, in tests, it worked well.”

He noted that Israel and the United States deployed the “Iron Dome” defense system to defend Israel from Hamas rocket attacks.

Iron Dome works well in shooting down short-range rockets within seconds, and “so very possibly, Star Wars could work too,” he said.

North Korea, “run by a mentally ill person,” will soon be able to hit the United States with nuclear bombs, Stein said, and Iran, “a nation run by a group of insanely angry persons” will soon be able to hit Europe, Israel and eventually America.

“Why, if the challenge is real enough for Mr. Obama to beef up the limited defense systems we have, don't we spend every dime we can beg, borrow, or steal to defend ourselves against nuclear rocket attacks from people who hate us?” Stein said. “What more urgent priority do we have?

The system could be expensive, but “so what if it's expensive? What is Portland worth? What's L.A. worth? What's Seattle worth?”

  1. Fact-checking...

This guy doesn't know what he is talking about. The U.S. already has antimissile defenses to take out a Korean missile when it is launched or when it is 150 from its target. Besides, they don't even have a missile with range to hit anywhere in the lower-48 states.

This is not going to happen, anyway. North Korea wouldn't have a prayer in a war with South Korea, much less the U.S. This guy is just campaigning for more money for the bloated defense budget.

  2. Check out this report on missile defense.
I hope that you are right about N. Korea. I doubt that the boy dictator would agree with your assessment.
