NAACP Attacks Any Black Politician Without A Black (Democrat) Agenda
Senator Tim Scott (S.C.), the only black Republican in the upper Congressional chamber, was maligned by a representative of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People and essentially called an Uncle Tom for his conservative leanings.
On Sunday, Rev. William Barber II, president of the N.C. NAACP, told a gathering of 300 parishioners at a South Carolina church that Scott, who was appointed by Governor Nikki Haley, was nothing more than a puppet for the right wing.
“A ventriloquist can always find a good dummy,” Barber said. He went on to complain that “the extreme right wing down here (in South Carolina) finds a black guy to be senator and claims he’s the first black senator since Reconstruction and then he goes to Washington, D.C., and articulates the agenda of the Tea Party.”
Scott responded to the smear on Tuesday, saying that he wouldn’t “reflect seriously” on Barber’s statement.
“To reflect seriously on the comments a person, a pastor that is filled with baseless and meaningless rhetoric would be to do a disservice to the very people who have sacrificed so much and paved a way,” Scott said.
“Instead,” he said. “I will honor the memory of Dr. King by being proactive in holding the door for others and serving my fellow man. And Rev. (William) Barber will remind me and others of what not to do.”
American race hucksters have made no secret about their disdain for Scott since he took office. In August, even though he is one of only nine black Americans to serve in the Senate, Scott was not invited by civil rights activists to speak at the 50th anniversary of the March on Washington.
