Federal Agencies Should Use Local Law Enforcement Instead Of Arming Itself

See How this Utah Lawmaker Hopes to Disarm BLM

17 Years ago Ron Paul warned that the arming of government officials would present problems like the ones witnessed at Bundy Ranch just a few short weeks ago.
If Representative Christ Stewart (R) of Utah has anything to say about it, they’ll be disarmed sooner than later.
In an interview with The Salt Lake Tribune Stewart was quoted saying:
“There are lots of people who are really concerned when the BLM shows up with its own SWAT team, they’re regulatory agencies… They’re not paramilitary units, and I think that concerns a lot of us.”
Mr. Stewart said it’s high time the government end its practice of arming its own special units for various agencies, like the BLM and the IRS.
If someone needs a response to alleged criminal activity, “They should do what anyone else would do: Call the local sheriff, who has the capability to intervene in situations like that.”
Which is exactly why he’s set into motion legislation that will be attached to an appropriations bill that would strip both the BLM and other agencies like the IRS of any ability to be armed and act as deputized, paramilitary forces.
26103585_sIncluded in the bill would be measures that require the BLM, IRS, and other government agencies to use local Law Enforcement to resolve disputes… as opposed to being armed themselves.
Though Stewart insists he isn’t taking sides in this situation, the measure will be sure to win him support with pro-liberty members of Congress including Senator Rand Paul and Mitch McConnell, among others.
