Authorities are preparing to file charges against a black McDonald’s employee who violently beat a white woman in front of her toddler.
The attack happened Tuesday afternoon in the city of Salem, New Jersey, and video of the assault was later posted on Facebook.

The video shows the woman, identified as LaTia Harris, 25, briefly exchanging words with the victim in a grassy area behind the McDonald’s restaurant. Moments later, she throws the victim to the ground, sits on top of her and repeatedly punches the victim in the head and chest.
The victim’s toddler son kicks the attacker in an attempt to protect his mother, but the punches continue to fly.
“Mommy!” the child cries as the beating intensifies.
The attacker then gets up and kicks the woman in the lower back before threatening the boy.
“You better get your son before I kick him in the [expletive] face too,” she screams.

The fast-food worker then shouts at the woman about her job.
“It’s not over. You almost made me lose my job,” the attacker says before spitting on the woman and walking away.
Several bystanders witness the attack but no one steps in to help the victim. Instead, they record the violence on their cell phones.
Police were able to obtain the video after it was posted to Facebook by one of those bystanders.
Harris now faces charges of assault and making terroristic threats.
“There is a moral and social breakdown in the fabric of our society which is clearly evident when a woman gets pummeled in broad daylight in front of her child while a dozen people pull out their phones to record the incident instead of calling for help.” said Police Chief John Pelura.
He added: “There is so little regard for human life – by the actor and the bystanders.”
