Guns Do Save Lives--Just Don't Fire A Warning Shot!

Sunday School Teacher Arrested for Defending Himself While His 9 Attackers Get Off Scot-Free

A Sunday school teacher is no longer able to teach Sunday school because of an ongoing investigation. In fact, he may soon be forced to serve time in prison.
Chris HarrisThe teacher, Chris Harris, was on the way home from teaching Sunday school when he and his girlfriend were surrounded by a group of 9 individuals.
The two who live in Wheeling, West Virginia were terrified as the 9 attackers threatened to rob them. One in the group claimed to be armed and they even threatened to rape Harris’s girlfriend as they advanced on the two.
Fortunately, Harris and his girlfriend were armed. Like many gun owners, they did not want to shoot and kill their attackers, but wanted instead to defuse the situation as quickly as possible.
Choosing to spare the lives of those around him, Harris grabbed his girlfriend’s handgun and proceeded to fire a warning shot to make them disperse. The group apparently did not believe Harris when he said the weapon was real and he wanted to show them that a decision to mess with them further might result inbodily injury or death.
Harris admitted he didn’t want to shoot anyone, that’s why he took the gun and fired a single warning shot into the air, then pointed the gun squarely on his attackers. “The warning shot was to show them it was a real gun. It was to give them a chance to reevaluate their decision,” Harris said.
Unfortunately, that’s where things went wrong for Harris.
Most of you know the laws associated with the use of guns in a defensive situation.
Many of you reading this will agree that firing a warning shot is not a prudent action to take. The law is set up in such a way that to brandish a firearm, or to fire a warning shot, is a quick way to get into legal trouble.
And poor Harris, who only wanted to spare the lives of his attackers, is suffering the consequences of his unwillingness to kill in self defense.
After firing the shot, Chris and his girlfriend managed to make it inside their home. Shortly thereafter thepolice arrived and Harris was arrested for wanton endangerment, while the attackers walked free.
Harris’s girlfriend, Celise Roxby, was miffed at the unfair arrest. “I just don’t understand why they arrested him, still,” Roxby said. “It just baffles me. I don’t know what kind of world we live in, where you’re arrested for defending yourself,” she added.
Roxby told AATTP that she was on the phone with a 911 dispatcher when the shot was fired — so police should have known that attempts were made to warn the attackers away.
Harris faces up to a year in jail for his act of self defense, and is even prohibited from being around one of the main attackers as a result of his bond.
When asked about his decision to fire the warning shot Chris replied, “Charges or not, I’m comfortable with the decision I made… If taking a life is the only option, then crossing that bridge would weigh on me for the rest of my life. This way, no one got hurt.”
As he also noted, “The gun was used in self defense, kept us safe, and no one got shot. What happened was better than the alternative if I would not have had the gun.”
Liberals just can’t seem to get their heads around the obvious facts. Guns are useful in fending off attacks that would inflict personal harm to an individual.
As far as liberals are concerned, all guns are evil and all of them need to be banned.
Which is why they’re pushing so hard to have them banned outright.
Truth is, they’re getting closer.
And as new restrictive gun laws are passed, ammo supplies shrink.
