It turned out to be anything but a normal Monday morning for one man in Lumberton, North Carolina.
Sanford Hardin was hard at work at the chicken farm near his Lumberton home on Monday morning when he received a call from his wife about a suspicious vehicle parked outside. He returned home immediately to assess the situation.

He found a man sleeping in a car outside his home, but when he tapped on the window, the man quickly “sped away,” Robeson County Sheriff Kenneth Sealey told local media.
Hardin then went inside to check on his wife.
What he found were two armed, masked men inside his home. The Robesonian reports one of the men fired at the husband, hitting him in the shoulder. But Hardin is a gun owner and was armed at the time, allowing him to return fire.
The man fatally shot a 28-year-old suspect — and the second suspect ran for his life. Hardin was finally able to call 911 and report the horrifying incident. He was transported to a hospital to receive treatment for his injuries and later released.
Sheriff Sealey said they are currently searching for “one or two more persons of interest” in the case.
While the incident remains under investigation, no charges have been filed.
