Ted Cruz makes it very clear that Obama should not send anyone to Castro’s funeral
Texas Sen. Ted Cruz made it very clear Sunday that he doesn’t want President Barack Obama to send any U.S. representative to Cuban dictator Fidel Castro’s funeral.
Cruz’s comments came during an interview with ABC’s “This Week.”
“I very much hope that we don’t see any U.S. government officials going to Fidel Castro’s funeral,” Cruz said. “I hope we don’t see Barack Obama and Joe Biden and Hillary Clinton and Democrats lining up to lionize a murderous tyrant and thug.”
“If you wouldn’t go to Pol Pot’s funeral or Stalin’s funeral or Mao’s funeral because they were murderous communist dictators, then you shouldn’t be doing what Barack Obama and Justin Trudeau are doing, which is celebrating Fidel Castro: a murderous, communist dictator,” he added.
Cruz, being that he is of Cuban descent, has been very outspoken against those who have praised Castro in the wake of the communist dictator’s death late Friday. He criticized Obama for a statement that largely dismissed the brutal atrocities imposed by Castro on the Cuban people, while rebuking Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau for praising Castro.
Cruz even urged Americans on Saturday to remember the victims of Castro’s brutal communist regime instead of remembering Castro.
