Trump Pledges $1 Million To Hurricane Harvey Relief Efforts, Solicits Media Feedback

President Donald Trump plans to donate $1 million of his own money to Hurricane Harvey relief efforts.
Press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders told reporters during the White House press briefing on Thursday, “He would like to join in the efforts that a lot of people we have seen across the country do.”
Trump has not decided which organizations he will be supporting but solicited feedback from the media based on their reporting from the region.
“He actually asked that I check with the folks in this room since you are very good at research and have been doing a lot of reporting into the groups and organizations that are best and most effective in helping and providing aid, and he’d like some suggestions from the folks here, and I’d be happy to take those,” Sanders said.
Actress Sandra Bullock announced earlier this week this she was donating $1 million to the Red Cross, as she did in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina in 2005 and other natural disasters since.
Actor Kevin Hart had raised over $1 million as of Wednesday for Hurricane Harvey victims.
Houston Texans star defensive lineman J.J. Watt raised over $12 million.
On Tuesday, Trump’s re-election campaign asked people to donate to various organizations including the Red Cross, the Salvation Army and animal rescue groups.
The first couple visited the region to survey the aftermath of the storm on Tuesday.
They plan to return to Texas and Louisiana on Saturday to meet with officials and storm victims.
