Poll: President Trump’s Approval Rating at 50 Percent

President Donald Trump as of Aug. 2 had an approval rating of 50 percent, according to Rasmussen Reports.
According to Rasmussen’s poll numbers on Aug. 2, 2010, President Barack Obama had an approval rating of 45 percent.
In an analysis on Aug. 2, Rasmussen said President Trump had a monthly job approval of 46 percent in July 2018, which was down one point from June 2018. In April 2018, the pollster noted, Trump had an approval rating of 49 percent.
Sixty-four percent of “likely Republican voters say that when it comes to major issues facing the nation, their views are closest to those of the president,” Rasmussen said, adding that only 20 percent of “GOP voters say their views most closely align with the average Republican in Congress, while 10 percent align most with the views of the average congressional Democrat.”
Rasmussen says that its daily tracking results are collected via telephone and surveys of 500 likely voters each night. The margin of sampling error is less than plus-or-minus 1 percentage points with a 95 percent level of confidence.
The poll numbers come a day after Trump wrote on Twitter that Attorney General Jeff Sessions should end the Russia investigation headed by special counsel Robert Mueller “right now.”
“This is a terrible situation and Attorney General Jeff Sessions should stop this Rigged Witch Hunt right now, before it continues to stain our country any further,” Trump wrote on Twitter on Aug. 1. “Bob Mueller is totally conflicted, and his 17 Angry Democrats that are doing his dirty work are a disgrace to USA!”
White House Press Secretary Sarah Sanders clarified later that the president was stating his opinion, not giving a directive to Sessions.
“It’s not an order,” said White House Press Secretary Sarah Sanders in explaining Trump’s tweet. “It’s the president’s opinion. It’s ridiculous that all of the corruption and dishonesty that’s gone on with the launching of the witch hunt.”
“The president has watched this process play out, but he also wants to see it come to an end as he stated many times, and we look forward to that happening,” she added.
Mueller has been investigating allegations of Russian meddling in the 2016 election and claims of collusion between Trump campaign and Russian associates for more than a year. Mueller hasn’t produced any indictments or evidence related to the Trump-Russia collusion allegations.
