Ocasio-Cortez says it is time to talk about abolishing prisons

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez says some head-scratching things from time to time. She does not seem to live in the real world at all. Some ideas, such as the so-called “Green New Deal” are just asinine.

But her latest idea — which she broadcast yesterday on Twitter – takes the cake.

Ocasio-Cortez tweeted, “Mass incarceration is our American reality. It is a system whose logic evolved from the same lineage as Jim Crow, American apartheid, & slavery. To end it, we have to change. That means we need to have a real conversation about decarceration & prison abolition in this country.”

That’s right. She wants to end prisons. Because they’re racist, or something. She claims that our system evolved from the same lineage as Jim Crow, which I suppose makes sense for people who have never taken a history class or read a book.

Make no mistake: Ocasio-Cortez’s goal is to completely break down the fabric of our society. She wants people who go to work, pay their taxes, and try to raise their kids to do the right things in life to pay for what she views as inequality.

If we aren’t even safe in our own homes because prisoners roam free — she wins. This is the kind of disruption she wants. This is the world she wants us to leave for our children and grandchildren. And Democrats now listen to her. This is why her party cannot be allowed anywhere near power in 2020.
