Blame Someone Who Cannot Respond!

#MeToo Leader Releases Stunning Statement On Alleged Sexual Assault Of Minor, Shifts Blame To Late Boyfriend Anthony Bourdain

If those behind the #MeToo movement had any consistency, they would rip Argento apart for this statement.

On Tuesday, Italian actress Asia Argento — a prominent #MeToo leader as the first woman to publicly accuse Hollywood producer Harvey Weinstein of sexual assault — broke her silence over the recent report that she paid off an actor hundreds of thousands of dollars when he accused her of sexual assaulting him as a minor.
In a stunning statement, Argento denied the accusation of sexual assault, but confessed to paying off her accuser — which was where her taking ownership of the incident ended.
Argento suggested the accuser, child actor Jimmy Bennett, was lying about the nature of their relationship and was merely seeking money, as she noted his past dealings with his family.
"I am deeply shocked and hurt having read the news that is absolutely false," reads Argento's statement, which was first obtained by journalist Yashar Ali. "I have never had any sexual relationship with Bennett."
She continued, "Bennett -- who was undergoing severe economic problems and who had previously undertaken legal actions against his own family requesting millions in damages -- unexpectedly made an exorbitant request of money from me. Bennett knew my boyfriend, Anthony Bourdain, was a man of great perceived wealth, and had his own reputation as a beloved public figure to protect."
Argento also said it was actually her then-boyfriend, late television star Bourdain, who told her it was best they keep the matter private and offer Bennett a payoff to evade further harassment.
"Anthony insisted the matter be handled privately and this was also what Bennett wanted," she said, adding, "Anthony personally undertook to help Bennett economically, upon the condition that we would no longer suffer any further intrusions in our life."
"This is, therefore, the umpteenth development of a sequence of events that brings me great sadness and that constitutes a long-standing persecution," added Argento. "I have therefore no other choice but to oppose such false allegations and will assume in the short term all necessary initiatives for my protection before all competent venues."
That would be irony smacking you in the face, right now.
If those behind the #MeToo movement, which Argento helped to create, had any consistency, they would rip her apart for this statement. If Argento weren't one of their own, the movement would have the actress' head for using the alleged victim's past to discredit his claim against her.
This is not to say that Argento is lying, of course, but to point out that the rules of #MeToo, while ostensibly well-intended, can be severely damaging, fostering a culture that vilifies and destroys without evidence. "Believe all victims," they are fond of saying, until they are not.
It's predictable, almost, that the rules of the movement Argento helped to create are now being asked to be ignored in her case. As we've seen time and again, mob movements always eat themselves.

When Your Friend's Ox Gets Gored, You Are Not So Enthusiastic!

Rose McGowan Wanted Us To Believe All Sexual Abuse Allegations...Until Her Friend Was Implicated

On Monday, Rose McGowan, a leading face of the #MeToo movement and alleged sexual assault victim of Harvey Weinstein, tweeted out her support for fellow #MeToo icon Asia Argento. A New York Times article over the weekend revealed that Argento paid out $380,000 to Jimmy Bennett, a former child actor who claims that in 2013, Argento sexually assaulted him in a California hotel. Bennett was 17 at the time. Bennett once played Argento’s son — when he was 7 — in the 2004 film The Heart Is Deceitful Above All Things.
According to The Hollywood Reporter:
He claims that he arrived at the Ritz-Carlton in Marina del Rey to meet Argento in her hotel room on May 10, 2013, with a family member. Argento asked to be alone with Bennett and the family member left. Bennett claims Argento gave him alcohol and also showed him notes she had made on hotel stationery. She then proceeded to kiss him and perform oral sex before having intercourse with him.
The documents say that Argento then asked to take a number of photos with him. Photos of Argento and Bennett semi-clothed in bed, as well as an Instagram post of their faces taken on that day, were included in the notice of intent to sue.
This prompted McGowan to tweet:
This is an act of unmitigated hypocrisy from McGowan. While it’s true that we should all weigh the evidence in each individual accusation, the #MeToo movement has famously ignored that advice time and again, destroying the careers of men in prominent positions based on accusations and the suggestion that we must #BelieveAllWomen. McGowan herself has tweeted along those lines:
So, if McGowan now wants to talk about waiting for evidence, that sounds great. But let’s be clear: the major flaw of the #MeToo movement has been the demand that evidence be secondary to accusations. And it’s hypocrisy to flip the script the moment that McGowan’s friend is implicated.

Asia Argento, a leading figure in the #MeToo movement faces intense public
scrutiny today after accusations surfaced she paid off an underage actor for
 sexual assault.

Per The Hollywood Reporter:

Asia Argento, the Italian actress who was one of the first to publicly accuse

Harvey Weinstein of sexual assault, secretly paid off a young male actor

accusing her of sexual misconduct in the months after her revelations about

the disgraced movie mogul.

According to a report in The New York Times, Argento paid former child actor

Jimmy Bennett $380,000. Bennett claims that in 2013, a then 37-year-old

Argento assaulted him in a California hotel only two months past his 17th

birthday. The age of consent in California is 18.

The Times reports that is has seen the legal documents that layout Bennett's

assault claims and the payments arranged between his lawyers and Argento's.

Bennett's lawyers sent a notice of intent to sue Argento in November, claiming

that the sexual assault was so traumatic that it affected his mental health and

stymied his acting career. The notice was sent to Richard Hofstetter, the late

Anthony Bourdain's longtime lawyer, who was representing Argento at the time.

The legal documents filed against Argento were sent shortly after her own rape
allegations against Weinstein went public.

The pile-up of sexual assault allegations against the Hollywood mogul and
Democratic megadonor sparked the #MeToo and Time's Up movements to
expose misconduct by men in positions of power.
