Democrats love telling other people what to do when they do whatever they want.
That was the case of California State Sen. Leland Yee, an anti-gun activist who went to prison for gun trafficking.
Do As I Say.
Sen. Yee was following in a long tradition of fellow Democrats who tell people to do as they say not as they do.
Whether it is Leonardo DiCaprio travelling the world on private jets and yachts as he tells everyone to not use fossil fuels, or fellow Hollywood celebs who are surrounded by 500 armed Los Angeles Police Department officer as they preach gun control, it is a liberal tradition.
It was one year ago that Sen. Yee received a five year prison sentence for accepting bribes and trafficking guns.
“I hope that in your sentencing of me, you will look at my entire life and not just these crimes I have committed,” he begged U.S. District Judge Charles Breyer, The Washington Post reported. “In the 67 years of my life, I have devoted much of it to the work of the community, to people here in San Francisco and in the state of California.”
He said that he was ashamed of hurting his family and supporters.
“That will always weight on me, and that will always haunt me for the rest of my life,” he said.
The judge was unmoved by Sen. Yee’s begging and hit him with a harsh sentence.
“The crimes that you committed have resulted in essentially an attack on democratic institutions,” he said. “This is a serious, serious injury to a governmental institution.”
The judge said Sen. Yee’s involvement in gun running was “hypocritical” and “unfathomable” considering his past advocacy for gun control.
Two years prior to his arrest he told CBS that he wanted to ban assault weapons in California.
“It is extremely important that individuals in the state of California do not own assault weapons. I mean that is just so crystal clear — there is no debate, no discussion,” he said.
Hello, I’m Wayne Allyn Root for Personal Liberty. Don’t look now, but we are experiencing a Democrat crime spree. Who would have believed it? Forget the GOP; Democrats are scared to death of RICO (the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act).
Democrat politicians are falling like flies. They are being arrested all over this country. You’d almost think the Democratic Party was one big widespread organized crime enterprise.
Keep in mind Democrats are the ones always claiming to care about women, children, minorities and the poor. It turns out this is all a cover for “Show me the money!” While they are busy painting Republicans as “mean-spirited,” “racist,” “radical” and “extreme” for wanting to cut spending, reduce the debt and allow taxpayers to keep more of their own money, Democrats are busy being involved in bribery, fraud, theft, extortion and gun running. Al Capone and John Gotti would be proud of this scam.
Maybe their new slogan should be “The Party That Makes Crime Pay!”
The recent Democrat crime spree started with Charlotte, N.C., Mayor Patrick Cannon. He resigned after being arrested by the FBI on corruption charges in a FBI sting operation.
The FBI charged that Democrat Mayor Cannon wanted far more than to help the poor in his city. He allegedly wanted to line his own pockets by demanding bribes from developers for the right to build in his town. He was charged with theft, bribery, fraud and extortion.
This should come as no surprise to Rhode Island citizens. Right next door in Massachusetts the past three speakers of the Massachusetts House were convicted of felonies. Would it surprise you to learn they were all Democrats? They were Democrat Salvatore DiMasi, Democrat Thomas Finneran and Democrat Charles Flaherty.
Yee was charged with wire fraud, conspiracy to deal firearms without a license and illegally importing firearms. Yee allegedly accepted $42,000 for introducing an arms buyer to an arms dealer. Investigators said Yee was helping the arms buyer obtain weapons such as shoulder-fired missiles from a Muslim separatist group in the Philippines, in order to pay off campaign debts. Wow.
Keep in mind Yee was a big gun control advocate — meaning his goal was to take guns away from honest law-abiding citizens. Quite a scam: Democrat politicians disarm the citizens, leaving them helpless at the hands of heavily armed thugs who then buy their illegal weapons from the Democrat politicians. I think Democrats have been watching too many reruns of “Goodfellas.”
Democrat Senator Rod Wright faces voter fraud charges. Democrat Senator Rod Calderon faces Federal charges for accepting $100,000 in bribes for passing bills.
In Philadelphia the local newspaper reported that the Pennsylvania Attorney General caught four leading Philadelphia Democrat politicians (members of the Pennsylvania House delegation) red-handed accepting bribes, but the entire investigation was shut down when a new Democrat Attorney General took office.
Democrat Attorney General Kathleen G. Kane claimed the investigation was “racist.” Funny, that’s the word Democrats always use when caught with stacks of money in their underwear as they walk out of an FBI sting.
Because all those allegedly accepting the bribes were members of the Pennsylvania Assembly’s Black Caucus, the Attorney General was able to claim “racism.” But sources familiar with the sting in Philadelphia say offers of bribes were made to both Republicans and Democrats, but only Democrats took the money.
Then last week, it was disclosed that Democratic Nevada Senator Harry Reid gave $31,249 in campaign funds to his granddaughter, Ryan Elizabeth Reid, for “holiday gift expenditures.” Nice job if you can get it.
Reid claims there was nothing wrong with what he did. It’s funny, though, that the recipient of the $31,000 in “gift expenditures” was listed on his Federal Elections Commission form as “Ryan Elizabeth.” Reid conveniently left off the last name “Reid” for his granddaughter.
I have news for our U.S. Senate Majority Leader. Using campaign funds for personal use (like enriching family members) is a crime. Ask Jesse Jackson Jr. You can reach him at the Federal Correctional Complex in Butner, N.C.
Keep in mind this was just one week of a Democratic crime spree. One week of “business as usual” for the party that claims to care so much about the poor and minorities. One week for the party that claims to care about “fairness, equality and social justice.”
And in this story about Democrats and crime, I haven’t even mentioned the Internal Revenue Service scandal, Benghazi, Fast and Furious, the Associated Press scandal, the National Security Agency scandal or the biggest act of criminal fraud of all-time, “If you like your insurance, you can keep your insurance.” Those are really serious crime emanating from the Democrat in the White House.
I have advice for the GOP in 2014 and 2016. We don’t need good candidates to defeat the Democrats.
We need good prosecutors.
I’m Wayne Allyn Root for Personal Liberty. See you next week. God bless America.
Being good Americans, we take the position that anyone who is arrested and charged with multiple crimes is innocent until proven guilty. That's more than California state senator Leland Yee (D) has done for gun owners in the past. In August 2012, Yee said "no one will convince me it's anything other than a joke to say that having multiple clips and semi-automatic weapons that can shoot 100 or more bullets at a time is necessary in this state or in this country, it's ridiculous."
Now, Yee has other things with which to concern himself, and none is a joking matter.
The San Jose Mercury-News reports that "Yee now is accused of consorting with notorious felons, accepting money for his cash-strapped political campaigns in exchange for favors and promising undercover FBI agents he could deliver connections to international gun runners." Additionally, he "is depicted in a startling, 137-page FBI affidavit of repeatedly offering to broker illegal firearms sales in exchange for campaign contributions," and he is "linked to a host of wrongdoing to pad his political war chest, charged with seven felonies in a case with two dozen defendants accused of everything from money laundering to murder-for-hire."
The Sacramento Bee reports that also arrested along with Yee was one Raymond "Shrimp Boy" Chow, a former Chinatown organized crime figure who once served time in prison for gun trafficking, and who radical gun control supporter Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.) later praised as a model of reform. The paper separately reports that "The FBI affidavit attached to the corruption case of state Sen. Leland Yee details a world of armaments: bulletproof vests, revolvers, assault rifles, shoulder-fired rockets and mines."
KRON-4, a San Francisco-area station, reports that Yee "asked for campaign donations in exchange for introducing an undercover FBI agent to an arms trafficker." Court documents posted with the KRON-4 article assert that "According to Senator Yee, the arms dealer had contacts in Russia, Ukraine, Boston and Southern California. . . . Senator Yee said, 'Do I think we can make some money? I think we can make some money. Do I think we can get the good? I think we can get the goods.' . . . Senator Yee said 'Because, I'm getting a little more into this, it's not just Russia; the Muslim countries have sources too'. . . Senator Yee asked [another person involved] if he wanted 'automatic weapons' as opposed to semi-automatic weapons."
Like Chow, Yee, too, is popular with gun control supporters. In 2006, the Brady Campaign rated Yee an "A+" andnamed him to the group's so-called "Gun Violence Prevention Honor Roll." In bestowing the "honor," the Brady Campaign noted that Yee had sponsored legislation to require semi-automatic handguns to have micro-stamping features and had supported a variety of other gun control proposals.
Now, gun control advocates join Yee in having other things with which to concern themselves. The Associated Pressreports "Gun-control groups (are) trying to find a new legislative leader to champion firearms restrictions after one of their most outspoken supporters was charged in a federal gun-trafficking case."
Until now, Yee had been campaigning to be elected as California's Secretary of State. He has since withdrawn from the race. SF Gate reports that Yee's lawyer sized up his client's situation by saying "The future will hold a lot of work."
