HOW THE LEFT REVELS IN VIOLATING THE 10 COMMANDMENTS

With Americans transfixed by election melodrama, especially on the Republican side, this would be a great time to pause for just a few minutes and seriously consider – possibly for the first time – this absolutely bizarre thing we call “the left.”
The left, righteously posing as protectors of women, blacks, gays, students, immigrants, the poor and other societal “victims” (while demonizing conservatives and Christians as selfish, racist, anti-science, anti-woman, anti-immigrant and homophobic), in reality is the primary cause of the vast majority of the misery, suffering and injustice it claims to oppose.
I document this stunning cause-and-effect relationship definitively in “The Snapping of the American Mind,” and since the book’s publication in October, the evidence just continues to pour in, confirming my thesis that not only is the left mad, but it is literally driving tens of millions of Americans right over the edge as well. As Rush Limbaugh put it recently, “… liberalism is driving people insane. It’s literally driving them insane.”
But this should not in any way surprise us. Because if we delve just a little deeper into the subject, we’ll see that the left’s efforts at “fundamental transformation” couldn’t possibly have any other effect on America than to deceive, corrupt, enslave and break millions of human beings – body, mind and soul. And that is because the political and cultural left – I’m talking now about people animated by the worldview, policies, strategies and deepest motivations of people like Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton – simply cannot operate without violating all of the Ten Commandments.
You may never have thought of it that way before. So let’s take a close look:
The great British leader Winston Churchill (whose bust was ejected from the White House immediately after Obama took office in 2009) described socialism as “the gospel of envy.” Churchill’s concise phrase encapsulates two profound truths: One, socialism is a religion to its adherents, and two, it appeals to and institutionalizes one of the darkest parts of human nature – envy. In thus glorifying and ennobling covetousness, socialism not only violates, but utterly rejects, the Tenth Commandment: “Thou shalt not covet.”
What about “Thou shalt not steal,” the Eighth Commandment? What is “wealth redistribution” but left-wing demagogues’ pious euphemism for stealing from one group and giving a small portion of the spoils to others, thereby amassing an ungodly amount of wealth and power for themselves? Barack Obama has shown in word and deed that he believes with a religious zeal that government’s primary role in society is to redistribute wealth. Yet the left’s fundamental rejection of the Eighth Commandment goes far beyond conventional notions of “spreading the wealth around” to the less fortunate. As author and filmmaker Dinesh D’Souza dramatically asks in his upcoming documentary film, “Hillary’s America”:
What if the goal of the Democratic Party is to steal the most valuable thing the world has ever produced? What if their plan is to steal America?
How about the Sixth Commandment, "Thou shalt not kill" (or "Thou shalt not commit murder")? Setting aside the 100-200 million people slaughtered or starved during the 20th century as a direct result of the imposition of the far left's insane totalitarian-utopian system, just look at today's America: More than 3,000 innocent babies slain in their mothers' wombs every single day (the same number as died in the Sept. 11, 2001, terror attacks). The left, having largely forsaken the fundamental transcendent sacredness of human life once universally recognized by a God-fearing, Judeo-Christian America, has become disturbingly comfortable with this sanitized slaughter.
The Seventh Commandment is "Thou shalt not commit adultery." Were this one commandment observed, the ever-metastasizing "sexual revolution" of the 1960s, brought to us entirely by the left, would disappear – and along with it the Pandora's Box of tragedies and disasters unleashed by normalizing and glorifying extramarital sex. We're talking about over a million abortions each and every year; astronomical levels of out-of-wedlock births and a corresponding epidemic of family breakdown, divorce and fatherlessness, with all the terrible societal ills that brings; a staggering 110 million Americans with sexually transmitted diseases; and today's ever-more-bizarre LGBT movement, including the rapid upsurge in lost souls trying in vain to morph into the opposite sex, the creation of dozens of brand new "genders" that never before existed, the nonstop indoctrination, confusion and corruption of America's children from kindergarten through college, and the Supreme Court's unholy redefinition of the most fundamental institution of human society – marriage. All from the violation of one commandment.
The left and its political fortress, the Democratic Party, never ceases to violate the Ninth Commandment, "Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbor." Indeed, the left's No. 1 battlefield tactic for occupying new ground is its nonstop defaming, demonizing, suing and lying about conservatives, Christians and others who oppose its blindly destructive advances. Dare to expose Planned Parenthood's shockingly evil practices of aborting babies while maximizing profitability from resale of their body parts and you get prosecuted, not Planned Parenthood. Form a conservative or Christian organization with traditional biblical values, and the IRS targets you. Decline to actively participate in a homosexual marriage, and you get bombarded with death threats, prosecuted, fined, "re-educated" and maybe jailed. President Obama continually "bears false witness" against Republicans, portraying them as selfish, uncaring, reckless people with a dangerous secret agenda – in other words, exactly what he is. Likewise, on the campaign trail, Hillary Clinton is now complaining that Republicans lie constantly! It's called "projection" – literally, accuse others of the very evil you commit.
The longtime far-left goal (particularly obvious among radical feminists) of breaking up the nuclear family is at war with the Fifth Commandment: "Honor thy father and thy mother, that thy days may be long upon the land which the Lord thy God giveth thee." As I document in "The Snapping of the American Mind," the destruction of the nuclear family has long been a core mission of the far left, because the deep and intrinsic spiritual loyalties and values woven into a strong family unit will always trump the soulless Marxist mandate that our first dependence and loyalty be toward an all-powerful, "benevolent" government (which always leads, in turn, to the worship of false political messiahs.)
All of these commandments – don't murder, don't steal, don't lie, don't commit adultery and so on – govern our relationship with our fellow man. But what about the first few commandments, which speak to our duty to God?
The First and Second Commandments ("Thou shalt have no other gods before me" and "Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image") have little meaning to hardcore leftists, who historically and intellectually tend to be atheistic. It seems their imaginary utopian all-beneficent government-god, in whom they have faith to provide for everyone's needs, is a jealous god that countenances no competition.
Likewise, the Third Commandment ("Thou shalt not take the name of the Lord thy God in vain") isn't so much a prohibition of profanity as a warning not to commit evil in God's name. Yet the left has developed its own perverse versions of the Christian religion, such as "liberation theology" (Marxism disguised as Christianity), and with each passing year the church of the left becomes more bizarre – ordaining homosexual and transgender clergy, blessing same-sex marriages, boycotting Israel, supporting confiscatory taxation and heavily redistributionist economic policies as well as openly embracing abortion. In other words, breaking all the same commandments as everyone else – condoning adultery, stealing, killing and so on.
Moreover, the National Council of Churches, the U.S.-based umbrella group for three-dozen mainline Protestant denominations, is far-left on virtually every issue and has a history of backing communist revolutions. Currently, that group's parent organization, the World Council of Churches, an international church umbrella organization with long-term ties to communism, once again is publicly demonizing Israel, which the Bible calls "the apple of God's eye." My friend, Lt. Gen. Ion Mihai Pacepa, the highest-ranking Cold War defector from the Soviet bloc, documents in his book "Disinformation" that the World Council of Churches has long been infiltrated by Russian intelligence, which he says actually installed communist agents of influence at the very top of this supposedly Christian organization! I'd say that's a pretty good example of "taking the Lord's name in vain."
What about the Fourth Commandment, "Remember the Sabbath Day, to keep it holy"? Suffice to say that the left's influence on American culture, government and law has profoundly changed what was once a reverent, Judeo-Christian culture into a secular-left atheistic one today. And just to keep the "big picture" of our topic in view, consider that the original leader of the communist revolution, Vladimir Lenin, wrote in 1913:
Every religious idea, every idea of God, even flirting with the idea of God, is unutterable vileness … of the most dangerous kind, contagion of the most abominable kind. Millions of sins, filthy deeds, acts of violence and physical contagions … are far less dangerous than the subtle, spiritual idea of God.
Whether we realize it or not, we are currently reeling under the sustained assault of a 100-year-war against Christianity by the forces of atheistic Marxism.
Not only do the Ten Commandments constitute the moral order of Western Civilization, they are arguably universal civilizational values. After all, does one really have to be a Christian or a Jew to agree it's a bad thing to murder, steal, commit adultery, envy or lie about your neighbor?
In the end, there's one inescapable reason Judeo-Christian principles, crystalized in the Ten Commandments, have been singularly successful in the laboratory of world history: They encourage and enable the good and noble side of human nature to flower, and restrain the evil side, whereas Marxism-socialism and the left's rebellious and immoral political and cultural agenda do exactly the opposite. Whether consciously or not, in its fanatical pursuit of manmade utopia and freedom apart from God, the left elevates and glorifies everything ignoble about human nature – and in the process, persecutes genuine goodness.
