Breitbart News obtained a copy of the video from Trump's political operatives. They said it cost $100,000 to produce.
In the video a Barack Obama impersonator is seen being driven to Trump Tower in New York. He is escorted into Trump's office where the billionaire businessman and TV personality evaluates his job performance as president.
"It looks like you’ve never really managed people before," Trump says. “You’ve never run a business. Who hired you?"
He compliments Obama on his golf swing, noting that he gets plenty of time to play. Finally, Trump delivers his signature line to deposed contestants on his reality TV show "The Apprentice."
"President Obama," Trump says, "you're fired!"
The video was set to be shown on the opening night of the convention, but top Romney political adviser Stuart Stevens said it was cut when the convention was shortened due to Hurricane Isaac's approach to the Tampa area.
Trump and his aides tell a different story, insisting that Romney didn't want the parody shown because it was feared to be too controversial.
"The reason they didn't put it on is because they thought it was too controversial. Controversy. It might not be politically correct," Trump said.
Stevens said the video was made for the convention and was not an appropriate 30- or 60-second length to show on television as a campaign ad. He said it might have been shown at fundraisers.
