Sean Hannity and Willie Robertson Walked Into a Restaurant Earlier This Month — the Wait Staff Walked Out $5,000 Richer
Television star and businessman Willie Robertson of “Duck Dynasty” fame earlier this monthreportedly left two servers a $5,000 tip — on a $5,000 bill.
That’s a 100 percent tip.
The Duck Commander CEO was in the nation’s capital as Rep. Vance McAllister’s (R-La.) guest for President Barack Obama’s State of the Union address.
And while Robertson was in Washington, D.C., he and his wife, Korie, had a chance to dine with several conservative heavyweights, including former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich, Texas Senator Ted Cruz and media pundits Sean Hannity and Mark Levin.
When the group was ready to leave at 2 am, they racked up a bill totaling $5,000, according to celebrity gossip site TMZ.
Robertson offered to pick up the tab, reportedly leaving the group’s two waiters a whopping $5,000 gratuity.
Again, that’s a 100 percent tip.
“Obama recently went to a local burger joint last month and left a 30% tip. Respectable but no contest. See? Republicans don’t have any problems redistributing wealth,” TMZ joked.
Now, considering the fact that we have yet to see photographic evidence of Robertson’s alleged generosity, you should take the story with a very, very large grain of salt. Indeed, until is 100 percent verified, it’s best to take in these types of reports with a healthy dose of skepticism (it wouldn’t be the first time that a hoax involving a tip made headlines).
TheBlaze has reached out to the Robertson family for comment.
UPDATE 10:35 a.m.: Sources close to TVNewser claim that it was Hannity who picked up the tab and left the enormous gratuity.
“(S)ources tell TVNewser…it was actually Hannity who paid the tab and added the $5,000 tip. Hannity knows from service industry work: during college he worked as a dishwasher, bartender and short order cook,” the report reads.
UPDATE II 12:20: A source at Ruth’s Chris Steakhouse confirmed to TheBlaze that it was indeed Sean Hannity who paid the tab and left the generous tip.
