Baghdad Will Soon Fall. What Happens To Americans and American Contractors Who Are Still There?

When Baghdad falls (not if), there will be thousands of Americans still there. What will happen to them? We fear that Benghazi will have been small in comparison.

ISIS (The Islamic State of Iraq and Syria) is known to be so cruel that al-Qaeda expelled them for being too violent. As this movement moves south toward Baghdad, one can only assume they will not take any American prisoners. For those who don't understand that means, there could be a wholesale slaughter of anyone who even appears to be from the States.

Should ISIS not slaughter every American, they might save a few to ransom any prisoners they want released. It worked so well in Afghanistan!

Our Embassy is a sitting duck and those diplomats remaining should be updating their wills. ISIS is less than 100 miles from Baghdad, a distance they could cover in hours as there is no "organized" Iraqi resistance.  Media reports have shown thousands of troops dropping their arms and running for their lives. Why have we not evacuated our diplomats and other personnel?

Additionally, there are thousands of contractors who fly planes and provide security for Americans in Iraq. What is going to happen to them? Why have they not been told to leave the country?

Evacuating these many people would be a logistic headache.  We are sure the Administration will use the same excuse as Benghazi-"we couldn't get them all out in time."

We can't forget those loyal Iraqi citizens who saw Uncle Sam as a country they "could do business with."  These poor people better head out of the country with whatever they can carry. ISIS will be looking for them and they will be terminated much like the Vietnamese were in Vietnam after we fled with our tail between our legs.

The blame for this tragedy can only end up resting at the door of the White House. Our intelligence services should have known (and shame on them for not knowing if they did not) that the situation was deteriorating and yet nothing was done.

If we had a leader in the White House, rather than one who does not believe in America, he would have not gone to deliver a commencement address today. Rather he would have been meeting with his intelligence people, his staff and the military to determine what actions needed to be taken today to ensure the safety of the remaining Americans.

Obama did not meet and the lives of Americans killed in Iraq in the upcoming days will be on his hands. We hope he can't sleep with that guilt.
