Wife Says a VA Hospital Told Her That Her Husband Was Dead — When She Went Back in the Room She Was Shocked at What She Saw
A Kentucky family is demanding answers from the Veterans Affairs hospital in Lexington after they were told their husband and father was dead. But when they went to see him, they say they found him alive.
Jennifer Dunn told WLEX-TV she took her husband, Danny Dunn, to a hospital in Harrodsburg, Kentucky, when she awoke to find him unconscious Thursday. Then he was transferred to the VA hospital.
Jennifer Dunn alleged that she was told by hospital staff in Lexington that Danny Dunn died.
“I asked him if I could go back in there one more time before I left, and when I went back in there, the man had a heart rate and blood pressure was holding good and everything,” she told the news station.
In the days following, Jennifer Dunn said her husband gave other signals showing he is alive.
“He squeezed my hand when I asked him to. He opened his eyes when I asked him to,” she said. “And he grabbed my hand, last night, like this, and he pulled with strength.”
“They said his soul was gone and that he wasn’t living no more. That he was gone long before we got him there … I mean we’re just looking for answers and they won’t give us any,” Tyler Dunn, the couple’s son, told WLEX.
The hospital would not comment on this situation specifically, but provided a statement to the news station that said its patients “can have confidence that our staff of dedicated and professional providers is committed to working with them and their families to honor their wishes and support their needs.”
The Dunn family now wants to transfer Danny to a different facility.
