Presbyterian Church Pulls Anti-Zionist Pamphlet. A Fig Leaf To Israel Or Was Pamphlet So Outrageous...?

Anti-Zionist Pamphlet Deleted Off Presbyterian Website

“Righteous lips are the delight of kings; and they love him that speaketh right.” (Proverbs 16:13)
An anti-Israel study guide produced by the Israel-Palestine Network of the Presbyterian Church (USA) has been pulled from the PC (USA) website.
A statement on the site reads, “The 221st General Assembly (2014) declares that Zionism Unsettled does not represent the views of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) and directs all Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) entities to express this statement in all future catalogs, print or online resources.”
The pamphlet was released earlier this year, generating controversy for its one-sided representation of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, which placed all the blame for the regional unrest on Zionism.
By way of explanation, Rev. Gradye Parsons, Stated Clerk of the General Assembly, said, “We need to keep our focus on supporting and communicating the decisions of the General Assembly, and responding to a recent increase in feedback about the book is impacting our ability to do that.”
According to the PC (USA) website, the Israel-Palestine Mission Network may continue to produce and sell the study guide and accompanying DVD “through other channels.”
The same General Assembly saw the church narrowly pass a motion to divest from three major US corporations which provide goods used by Israeli security personnel in Judea and Samaria.
“We support the decision of the General Assembly regarding divestment in its effort for peacemaking in Israel-Palestine, and are hearing from those within the denomination who support it,” said Linda Valentine, Executive Director of the Presbyterian Mission Agency. “We are also hearing from church leaders expressing pain and frustration over the divestment decision and its impact on interfaith relations.
