Rush Limbaugh on Wednesday said former Vice President Dick Cheney is “exactly right” when he says President Barack Obama’s policies only empowered the Muslim Brotherhood, giving radical Islamist groups an opportunity to gain power in the Middle East.
Citing the account of Rep. John Fleming (R-La.), Limbaugh noted that Cheney said at a weekly caucus meeting behind closed doors on Tuesday that Obama “has actually done things that have supported the Muslim Brotherhood.”

“He did. That’s not conjecture. It’s not theory. He did!” Limbaugh said. “The Arab Spring. We got rid of Mubarak in Egypt. We empowered the Muslim Brotherhood. What were we told? They’re the peaceful Islamists. The Brotherhood is the moderates. The Brotherhood we can deal with. The Brotherhood, yeah.”
The radio host also argued that the Muslim Brotherhood is related to Hamas and Hezbollah and are “very close” to the Islamic State.
Cheney also reportedly said that by the Obama administration “facilitating the Muslim Brotherhood … our policies have been exactly opposite to where they should be” and called for aggressive military action against Islamic State terrorists.
President Obama delivered a primetime speech on the Islamic State threat on Wednesday night, saying the U.S. will carry out airstrikes and deliver humanitarian aid but no boots will be on the ground. He also claimed that the Islamic State, or ISIL, is not “Islamic.”
