Former Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney tweeted a message to Sony Pictures Wednesday evening, in the wake of the motion picture company announcing they have no plans to release “The Interview.”
“@SonyPictures don’t cave, fight: release @TheInterview free online globally,” Romney tweeted. “Ask viewers for voluntary $5 contribution to fight #Ebola.”
Sony Pictures said in a statement Wednesday afternoon that they have decided not to move forward with the planned December 25th theatrical release of “The Interview” amid terror threats. Later in the evening, a representative said the company had “no further release plans for the film,” including releasing the picture on DVD or video-on-demand.
The decision comes on the heels of a terrorism threat made by a group of hackers that recently executed a devastating cyber attack against Sony.
According to U.S. investigators, the hackers were acting on orders from North Korean leaders.
