The Insanity Of The Bathroom Mandate

President Obama
President Obama
“Literally insane.”
“No basis in law or logic.”
“Partners in child abuse.”
“Completely ridiculous.”
“Unconstitutional mandate.”
“Political goal.”
No wonder the Obama administration announced its new transgender mandate for school bathrooms across the country heading into a Friday, the traditional day for “information dumps” whereby government, hoping people are focused on the weekend, won’t really pay attention.
Or perhaps they, themselves, wanted a couple of days to disconnect from the Internet before they’d have to confront, on Monday, the massive onslaught their latest work has wrought.

Whatever the reason, the announcement by the U.S. Departments of Education and Justice telling all public schools to allow transgender students to use the bathroom matching their chosen “gender identity,” or else risk a lawsuit or loss of federal funding, stirred up storms of reaction, very little of it positive, as the comments listed above typify.
International journalist and educator Alex Newman said this particular Obama administration decree illustrates the many serious problems plaguing America’s education system.
“First of all, neither the federal government nor the Obama administration has a shred of constitutional authority to be meddling in public schools,” declared Newman, coauthor of the book “Crimes of the Educators.”
“Education is not among the enumerated powers of the federal government, and therefore schooling is properly within the jurisdiction of states or local communities. That includes bathroom policies.
“Secondly, this latest federal intrusion is typical of what has been imposed on schools across America from Washington, D.C., for generations. Rather than focusing on real education, the federally controlled schools have become indoctrination factories waging war on truth, common sense, morality and even reality.”

The administration’s directive covered not only bathrooms, but locker rooms and other sex-segregated facilities as well. The letter also said staff should address transgender students by their preferred names and pronouns.
As CNN noted, the letter stated “schools cannot require students to have a medical diagnosis, undergo any medical treatment, or produce a birth certificate before treating them consistent with their gender identity.”
“We now have a would-be emperor ordering everyone to pretend like truth is subjective,” said Newman, “and worse, encouraging young children to believe the absurdity that they can choose their gender – something that experts in the field have equated to child abuse.” He added, “Therefore, with these ridiculous directives, the Obama administration is ordering schools all across America to become partners in child abuse.”
Cheryl Chumley, a WND staff writer and author of “The Devil in DC,” has children currently in the public school system. She worries about how the new Obama administration directive will affect them:
“If my 8th grade son’s administrators feel it’s their legal duty to open the boys’ bathrooms to girls – and if my 4th-grade daughter’s elementary school officials feel called upon to open the girls’ changing rooms to boys – then I’m going to have a very big problem with this, and I see a fight on the horizon,” Chumley asserted. “When school policy inflicts harm or puts my children in danger, you better believe I’m going to become very outspoken.”
The Obama administration frames the transgender bathroom situation as a civil rights issue, writing, “The desire to accommodate others’ discomfort cannot justify a policy that singles out and disadvantages a particular class of students to ensure that all students, including transgender students, can attend school in an environment free from discrimination based on sex.”
That makes the huge assumption that Congress, in writing the Civil Rights Act in 1964, intended that it would open women’s restrooms, locker rooms and shower rooms to men, and vice versa.

But Chumley rejects the idea that this is about civil rights.
“This fight for transgender equality is all about the tear-down of the family – it has nothing, absolutely nothing, to do with equal rights or civil rights, or ensuring equal access for all,” she declared. “Transgenderism is a mental disorder; equating this mental health issue with the civil rights struggles of blacks, as Attorney General Loretta Lynch did, or as some sort of extension of Jim Crow-era struggles, is completely ridiculous. Is being black a mental health disorder? I don’t think so.”
David Kupelian, WND’s managing editor and best-selling author of “The Snapping of the American Mind,” agrees transgenderism is a mental disorder, but goes further.
“The whole transgender issue, which represents the politicization and forced celebration of a severe mental illness – and now, shoving it down the throats of hundreds of millions of Americans, including her school children – is literally insane,” Kupelian said.
For almost eight years, Kupelian noted, traditional-minded Americans have pondered the reasons behind President Obama’s apparently willful undermining of the country. Is it all just leftwing ideology, he asks? Or a personality disorder such as “narcissistic personality disorder,” as some psychiatrists have opined? Childhood trauma? Criminality and corruption often associated with Chicago politicians? Is a malevolent spiritual force working through him? Or is it all just a matter of political calculation aimed at cultivating in America a permanent left-wing voting majority?
“With his latest edict of forcing an insane, illegal and chaos-producing solution for a virtually nonexistent problem throughout all the nation’s schools, something that will adversely affect tens of millions of school children, the answer comes into sharp focus: It’s all of the above,” Kupelian concluded. “After all, in reality these seemingly different frames of reference – ideology, personality defects, criminality, politics and so on – overlap, and are arguably just different ways of looking at the exact same phenomenon: Obama is delusional. He lives in a different mental world than most Americans.”

Kupelian adds: “As I document in ‘Snapping,’ the political and cultural left – which gave us the sexual revolution and LGBT movement – is stark raving mad, and is now driving tens of millions of Americans right over the edge with it – into debauchery, dependency, family breakdown, crime, corruption, addiction, despair and suicide,” he warned. “Most Americans actually kind of know all this, but are afraid to say it out loud because they don’t want to be persecuted as ‘haters’ and ‘bigots.'”
On a similar note, Chumley pointed out how the Obama administration is attempting to flip common sense on its head while turning good into evil and evil into good. She said the transgender movement is marked by deceit – such as the “civil rights” argument mentioned earlier.
“And all the while they’re making this deceitful argument, they’re asking the rest of us to play a part in the deceit and go along with the notion that gender is a choice – that a boy who’s born a boy can simply change his sex by a flex of mental muscle, by thinking it were so,” Chumley said. “Well, this just in: God is actually in charge of determining the sex of a baby, and no amount of wishful thinking or wardrobe choice is going to overturn that reality – and neither is a guidance from the federal government.”
Newman agreed gender is an objective fact, not a choice or a social construct. He said children who feel like they want to change genders need guidance from their families and churches, but he wouldn’t mind if schools offered to help as well – just not if they affirm the child’s delusions.
“To use an analogy that experts in this field have used, nobody would tell a victim of bulimia or anorexia that they are fat merely to confirm their delusion or appear to be ‘open minded,'” Newman said. “That is absurd on its face. It is equally ridiculous, and perhaps even more destructive, to play along with a child’s delusions about gender. Dr. Paul McHugh, former psychiatrist-in-chief at John Hopkins Hospital, suggested that the confusion should be treated as a ‘mental disorder that deserves understanding, treatment and prevention.’ That is probably part of it. But these children also need guidance from their parents and their churches.”
Kupelian warns that the Obama administration is now poisoning the minds of not just transgender kids, but all American children.
“With his transgender bathroom decree, Obama has found a way of corrupting the entire nation’s school children all at once, by inserting into the minds and hearts of innocent little kids the issue of sex, sexuality, sexual identity, sexual behavior, sexual anatomy and so on,” Kupelian said. “It’s absolutely evil.”
Chumley agreed and said this is one battle ordinary Americans cannot give up on.
“This policy is government at its worst: an infliction of deceitful and harmful near-mandate by a runaway executive branch onto states and schools, unconstitutional at its core, wicked and contrary to biblical principles at its root,” she said. “And Christians around the nation, as well as those who care about the fate of our children and families, ought to fight back with as much vehemence as they can muster.”
Joseph Backholm, chief of the Family Policy Institute of Washington, didn’t mince words.
“The president’s behavior is lawless. If the United States wants a law that forces grade schools, middle schools, and high school to allow boys into the girls locker room, that’s something the Congress would do, not the president. Even if it were lawful, every parent should be concerned that the president just threatened to intentionally diminish the quality of public education by way of removing funding unless we start forcing girls to share locker rooms with boys at school.”
Rep. Jim Jordan, R-Ohio, had equally little patience for such extreme behavior.
“Of all the schools and businesses I’ve visited in our district over the years, this issue has never been raised once. There is no need for a blanket federal restroom policy that covers every school in America, especially one that comes with the threat of retaliation from the Obama administration for failure to comply. It seems like parents, teachers, school administrators and local school boards are perfectly capable of handling any issue that arises, but unfortunately this type of blanket federal policy may tie the hands of those very parents, teachers, school administrators and local school boards who want to protect kids against dangerous situations that could arise from mixed-gender restrooms and locker rooms in schools.”
Mat Staver, the chief of Liberty Counsel, warned, “Studies show that one in four girls and one out of every six boys under 18 will be sexually assaulted. This unconstitutional mandate only increases those statistics. School districts that allow boys to use the girl’s restrooms, locker rooms, and showers are placing girls at risk. They will be held accountable for sexual assaults. Congress has repeatedly rejected attempts to include ‘gender identity’ or ‘sexual orientation’ in federal law. I encourage schools to fight for the privacy and protection of students and reject the Obama bullies.”
And Alliance Defending Freedom Senior Counsel Jeremy Tedesco said, “The administration’s new guidelines simply reinforce what has been abundantly clear already—that it has a political goal of forcing women to share restrooms and locker rooms with men across the nation and will spread falsehoods about federal law to achieve its aims. This is precisely why we have filed two federal lawsuits, one in Illinois and one in North Carolina, on behalf of parents and students who are understandably concerned about their children. Solutions exist to accommodate everyone without violating anyone’s privacy rights, but the administration won’t entertain those solutions because of its preference to unlawfully impose its political will through threats and intimidation.”
Karen English, of Privacy for All, said, “There is no basis in law or logic for doing this.”
On Friday, talk radio icon Rush Limbaugh immediately launched into a commentary he called “Obama’s transgender obsession.”
“Remember when a lot of people took their kids out of schools to start teaching them at home, and remember how they were called a bunch of fruitcakes and extremists and paranoids and all kinds of names? How do they look to you now? They look somewhat prescient, do they not?” he started out.
“I mean, you look at what’s going on the American public school system. But what is it with this transgender push? I know that most of the story is that the gay movement has realized its agenda, so they’ve gotta they’ve gotta transfer that energy somewhere and transgenders is the next.”
The comments recalled his own sarcastic conclusions back in 2009, when he was blasting Obama’s plans to police the fine print on consumer products.
“You could legalize rape and call it the consumer something, and it would pass,” he ridiculed. “You’re protecting consumers. Likewise you could legalize rape and call it the Civil Rights Act of 2009, it would probably pass because who would have the guts to vote against something with civil rights in it?”
On Friday, he openly wondered, “What the heck? Why is this so important to Obama?”
He cited the work of Johns Hopkins psychiatrist Paul McHugh, who “said that transgenderism is a ‘mental disorder’ that merits treatment, that sex change is ‘biologically impossible,’ and that people who promote sexual reassignment surgery are collaborating with and promoting a mental disorder.”
He noted McHugh is author of six books and “at least 125 peer-reviewed medical articles.”
“[McHugh] also reported on a new study showing that the suicide rate among transgendered people who had reassignment surgery is 20 times higher than the suicide rate among non-transgender people. Dr. McHugh further noted studies from Vanderbilt University and London’s Portman Clinic of children who had expressed transgender feelings but for whom, over time, 70 percent to 80 percent spontaneously lost those feelings,” Limbaugh said.
“A-ha. We may be on to something here. Dr. McHugh and his boys have studied all this, and young kids, 70 to 80 percent of them, eventually grow out of this confusion. May that’s what they don’t want to happen is for kids to outgrow it.”
Limbaugh also pointed out how extreme Obama is.
“It affects every public school in the country, and as you sit around … you know, I analyze people’s ideology, and I know leftists and liberals like the back of my hand. But I still want to throw this out because this is way, way over the top. This … I mean, this is … You want to talk about Trump or anybody on the right wing being extreme? What the hell is this? This is so far out of the mainstream….”
