Donald Trump is not expected to do well among Hispanics according
to the conventional wisdom. Trump after all come on scene by
promoting a crackdown on illegal immigration and has made
remarks many Hispanics view as offensive.

But a new national poll has come out that shows Trump leading
among Hispanics against Hillary Clinton. Gravis Marketing released
a national poll that shows Trump beating Hillary 55% to 45 among
Hispanics.

From The Daily Caller:

With Hispanics, however, Trump leads Clinton 55 percent to 45 percent.

This lead among Hispanics comes as a surprise — a recent poll

showed nearly 90 percent of Latino voters view Trump unfavorably.

Trump probably won’t come close to winning the Hispanic vote. In
2012, Barack Obama won the Hispanic vote with 71%. Plus for
perspective, only 157 out of 1,574 respondents in the poll identified
themselves as Hispanic which means only about 87 selected Trump.
The margin of error in the Hispanic response is significant.

Overall in the Gravis poll, Clinton beats Trump 51%-49%. But that is
within the margin of error. When “other” is factored in, Clinton gets
48% to Trump’s 46%. The unnamed third party candidates get 5%.

The real story of these polls is that the general election may not be
the blowout that a lot of Trump critics thought it was going to be. The
polls are if anything getting tighter. But we have another 6 months to
 go before Election Day.
