Rasmussen Poll: Hillary Leads Trump by 2 Points

Hillary Clinton leads Donald Trump in the presidential race by only two points — but factoring in the margin of error makes it a dead heat, a new poll from Rasmussen Reports reveals.
The New Jersey-based polling company's national telephone and online White House Watch survey of 1,000 likely U.S. voters shows:
- Clinton (Democrat): 41 percent
- Trump (Republican): 39 percent
- Gary Johnson (Libertarian) 9 percent
- Jill Stein (Green Party): 3 percent
- Other candidates: 3 percent
- Undecided: 5 percent
The poll, conducted Aug. 15-16, has a margin of sampling error of +/- 3 percentage points with a 95 percent level of confidence.
Rasmussen says Trump has been "steadily losing ground" since mid-July when his support peaked at 44 percent.
The polling group adds that this is the second straight week that Clinton's support has fallen from an identical 44 percent just after the Democratic National Convention, with the former secretary of state holding a 43 percent to 40 percent edge over Trump last week.
Clinton continues to earn more support among voters in her party — 77 percent — than Trump does with 69 percent. But support is down from last week in both parties, according to Rasmussen.
In other findings, Clinton holds a 43 percent to 39 percent lead over Trump among women. The race is closer among men with 40 percent supporting Clinton and 39 percent backing Trump.
