Revealed: Clinton campaign tried to silence MSNBC host Mika Brzezinski after she dared criticize Hillary's 'arrogance'
- Co-host of 'Morning Joe' says Hillary Clinton's campaign tried to get her kicked off the air but MSNBC refused the demand
- Mika Brzezinski recalled that she had been critical of the Clinton team's 'arrogance'
- Clinton camp, she said, suggested to network brass that 'I had done something that was journalistically inappropriate ... and needed to be pulled off the air'
- Co-host Joe Scarborough added that Clintonworld also shushed 'people surrounding the campaign that tried to tell the campaign it was in trouble'
MSNBC Host Mika Brzezinski said on Friday that Hillary Clinton's presidential campaign tried to get her taken off the air after she suggested that the Democrat was taking victory over Donald Trump for granted.
It didn't work - the successful 'Morning Joe' program has kept her as co-host along with Joe Scarborough - but she said Friday that the Clinton camp pressed the network to yank her.
'I'll just say it,' Brzezinski declared. 'NBC got a call from the campaign. Like I had done something that was journalistically inappropriate or something and needed to be pulled off the air.

'I mean, think about that! That's just - that's shooting the wrong messenger.'
Brzezinski didn't say who had made the call to the MSNBC brass, which came in the campaign's closing days.
But she recalled being critical of 'arrogance' coming from Clintonworld, where long-time loyalists considered Trump a vulgarian political novice and believed the former secretary of state was unbeatable.
'I was concerned the campaign was not understanding that perhaps there was an arrogance,' Brzezinski said Friday.
'They needed to sort of get off their high horse and understand that this isn't over.'
That, she said, is when the Clinton camp tried to silence her.
Brzezinski recalled that she had been critical of the Clinton team's 'arrogance', and said that soon after her comments, Clinton's campaign called to ask MSNBC to pull Brzezinski off the air
Co-host Joe Scarborough added that Clintonworld also shushed 'people surrounding the campaign that tried to tell the campaign it was in trouble'
Scarborough sympathized with his co-host.
'By the way, Mika,' he said, 'there were also people surrounding the campaign that tried to tell the campaign it was in trouble. Those people were shut out.'
'And here we are,' Brzezinski added.
In the course of the campaign Morning Joe became a lightning rod for controversy, with its host accused initially of being too close to Trump, then falling out badly with him.
The now president-elect called Mika 'dopey', 'crazy' and 'neurotic' on Twitter and also accused the show of being a ratings flop.
The Clinton campaign's attitude to the media behind closed doors and who its considered to be its friends were exposed in an explosive series of emails leaked from a hack of campaign chair John Podesta's Gmail account.
Since the election, it appears that Brzezinski and Scarborough have been close to Trump's inner circle. Brzezinski has made two appearances at Trump Tower in the last month for meetings with the President-elect and his team
Among other revelations were how Donna Brazile, now the Democratic National Committee chair, gleefully leaked debate questions at a CNN event to Clinton staffers, something which the news channel's boss called 'disgusting'.
And on the other hand, her communications chief Jennifer Palmieri wanted to get a magazine to write a story about how NBC were 'gross' for asking Bill Clinton tough questions about the family's foundation.
Since the election, it appears that Brzezinski and Scarborough have been close to Trump's inner circle.
They had a sit-down with Trump in November, where they reportedly discussed the possibility of the president-elect coming back on their show for an interview.
Brzezinski returned to Trump Tower weeks later, when she reportedly had a meeting with Trump's daughter Ivanka.
