White House in Lockdown After Man Shows Up with Suspicious Package
The White House was on lockdown Tuesday morning after authorities discovered a man with a suspicious package on White House grounds. The lockdown was in effect until 11:30 a.m., but more details were unfolding as investigations into the incident continued.
At around 10:30 a.m., Charlie Spiering, White House correspondent for Breitbart News, tweeted that the press room at the White House had been secured.
More details emerged when a spokesperson for the Secret Service divulged that a man approached an officer at the White House and made “suspicious comments” while holding a package.

The lockdown was soon implemented, and no one was allowed to leave the White House while the Secret Service cleared the lawns. Road closures were issued while investigators looked into the matter.
Then Secret Service tweeted that they had a suspect in custody.
As of mid-afternoon it appeared that a bomb squad was still investigating the suspicious package, The Hill reported.
