Trump touts higher approval rating among Hispanics

President Trump on Thursday tweeted a new Zogby poll showing his rebounding poll numbers among Hispanics and other groups.
The Zogby Analytics poll, which was taken in the first days of August, shows 42 percent of Hispanic voters say they approve of the job Trump is doing as president, an 11-point jump from last month.
"Trump approval rebounds to 45%, surges among Hispanics, union homes, men," Trump tweeted, echoing a headline from the Washington Examiner.

The poll shows Trump with an average approval rating of just about 45 percent, a slight increase from 42 percent in the same survey in July. Along with Hispanics, Trump saw a swell of support from union households this month in the survey, up from 43 percent approval in July to 51 percent approval in August.
However, the same poll also describes Trump's recent weeks as "disastrous."
"The president's approval rating has rebounded somewhat since our July poll. Following a series of disastrous weeks, Trump's approval numbers have moved up slightly, especially among his base and a few other sub-groups not known for their support of the president," pollster James Zogby wrote in the poll analysis.
"As President Trump embarks on his first vacation for the next seventeen days, he still has many battles to fight and he is in desperate need of a victory both at home and abroad."
Zogby Analytics's reputation among polling experts is questionable. FiveThirtyEight founder Nate Silver called Zogby "the worst pollster in the world" in 2009.
Zogby Analytics surveyed 1,300 likely U.S. voters from Aug. 4 to Aug. 7. The poll, released Tuesday, has a margin of error of 2.7 percentage points.
