Parkland Shooting Sheriff Might Soon Be Seeking New Employment

Sheriff Israel being removed from office in Broward County

The sheriff that found himself being scrutinized over the high school shooting in Parkland, FL is about to have his world turned upside down.
According to new reports, Sheriff Scott Israel will be removed from office within a week.

Surprising Reason

When the shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School happened, it immediately became apparent the local sheriff’s office was, at the very least, minimally responsible for the events that took place.
There was reportedly an officer outside the school who heard shooting, yet never acted.
Sheriff Israel tried to direct the attention away from his officers by blaming gun control on the shooting.
But as the incident was further investigated, the sheriff threw his officers under the bus rather than putting any of the blame directly on himself for lack of leadership.
Most suspected the sheriff would eventually be removed from office for some type of dereliction of duty, but that is not what happened.
He is actually being removed for alleged criminal issues, as well as reportedly being investigated by the IRS.

Where There’s Smoke…

The public first became aware of the investigation into the sheriff when FBI Director Christopher Wray was called to testify before the Inspector General.
When specifically asked about Sheriff Israel and the shooting, Wray said he could not comment because of a pending investigation.
Wray himself is also facing considerable scrutiny, specifically from Florida Gov. Rick Scott.
The governor stated: “We constantly promote ‘see something, say something,’ and a courageous person did just that to the FBI. And the FBI failed to act.”
He continued: “’See something, say something’ is an incredibly important tool and people must have confidence in the follow through from law enforcement. The FBI Director needs to resign.”
Much the same was the cause of the initial investigation into Sheriff Israel.

Should Sheriff Israel Be Removed from Office?

Along with the gaffe from the FBI, reports revealed information his department could have acted upon to prevent the shooting, but they completely dropped the ball.
Gov. Scott is expected to make a formal announcement next week on the status of Sheriff Israel.

Hogg Somewhat Unfiltered. Sounds Like A Spoiled, Indulged Brat

David Hogg: "Our Parents Don't Know How To Use A F*cking Democracy, So We Have To"

The Outline interviewed David Hogg, a 17-year old survivor of the shooting in Parkland, Florida, who says he is the NRA's "worst nightmare." Hogg's interview was laced with profanity against his detractors, Gov. Rick Scott, the NRA, old people and others.

Watch the march live

Hogg said he became an activist because adults don't know how to "use a f*cking democracy":

"When your old-ass parent is like, ‘I don’t know how to send an iMessage,’ and you’re just like, ‘Give me the fucking phone and let me handle it.’ Sadly, that’s what we have to do with our government; our parents don’t know how to use a fucking democracy, so we have to."

An edited down version of this clip was removed by YouTube as harrassment after it was linked by the Drudge Report.

"I’m beyond exhausted," Hogg said. "I get to a certain point where I just get so tired that I keep going. It creates a positive feedback loop in some ways — the more stress and work I put on me, the more stress and work I can deal with."

"It just makes me think what sick fuckers out there want to continue to sell more guns, murder more children, and honestly just get reelected," Hogg said. "What type of shitty person does that? They could have blood from children splattered all over their faces and they wouldn’t take action, because they all still see these dollar signs."

"Honestly, it's alright that people are buying more guns. I just care that they are being safe individuals. And they can practice their Second Amendment rights all they want. I don't give a f*ck about that. I just want to make sure that a crazy-ass individual doesn't get an AR-15 or any weapon at all," Hogg said about guns.

To Florida Gov. Rick Scott: "You’re kind of like Voldemort at this point. You should just retire, because you aren’t going to get elected to Senate."

To Sen. Marco Rubio: "What about the $176,000 you took for those 17 people’s blood?"

Will "Mental Illness" Confiscations Become Abusive?

It’s Happening: Confiscation Begins After New Gun Control Law Enacted

 Print
The first firearm seizure has occurred under a controversial new firearms measure enacted by Republican Florida Gov. Rick Scott in the wake of the Parkland shooting.
According to the Orlando Sentinel, the order was issued Friday by a Broward County judge.
“Four firearms and 267 rounds of ammunition were ordered removed from a 56-year-old Lighthouse Point man who was determined to be a potential risk to himself or others,” the Sentinel reported.
“The guns and ammunition have been temporarily removed from the man under the state’s new ‘risk protection’ law, which is also sometimes called ‘red flag’ legislation, Lighthouse Point City Attorney Michael Cirullo confirmed,” the paper continued.
“The man was also taken to a hospital for involuntary psychiatric treatment under the state’s Baker Act. But the civil ruling removing his access to guns and ammunition was granted under the new legislation — which permits confiscating guns from people who have not been committed but are deemed a potential risk to themselves or others, according to the order signed by Broward’s Chief Judge Jack Tuter.”

According to Breitbart, the provision is part of a new $400 million law signed by Gov. Scott earlier this month.
The law allows a family member or law enforcement to petition a judge to take away the weapons of an individual deemed to be a risk.
The judge can then decide whether the guns will be confiscated from the individual.
“This is not about the Second Amendment and it’s not about the NRA,” said Glenn Troast, the mayor of Lighthouse Point.
“We need commonsense gun laws and this is a commonsense gun law that gives police officers new tools they need to help us protect our community.”
The bill has divided gun rights proponents.
On one hand, one of the biggest issues the right has brought up in the wake of the Parkland shooting is mental health and whether law enforcement has the proper tools to take away guns from those who have “red flags” in terms of mental illness.

Do you think this Florida law will prevent shootings?

On the other hand, worries about due process have been raised, particularly considering the fact that the bill could simply act as a backdoor for confiscation.

President Donald Trump raised some of these concerns after a listening session with lawmakers in which he intimated he supported seizing guns first, then worrying about due process later.
Given that Florida’s legislation is really the first test of the balance between due process and mental health safeguards since the Parkland shooting, it will be interesting to see how the law — and particularly this case — ends up turning out.
If this ends up being an effective tool at stopping shootings — one which preserves gun rights — it’s easy to see plenty of conservatives getting on board.
However, if it turns out to be a backdoor for confiscation without due process, this could be the beginning of a major battle for the soul of the Second Amendment.
What are your thoughts on this new law?

Cruz Did Not Buy His Gun At Gun Show, Yet The Anti-Gunners Want To Shut Them Down! Idiots!

Gun show in Florida attracts most attendees ever after deadly mass shooting at Parkland high school

A Florida Gun Show event attracted a record-breaking number of attendees over the weekend, organizers told WTSP-TV — almost 7,000 came to the show at the Florida State Fairgrounds in Tampa on Saturday. More were expected Sunday, the station said.

While the gun show’s manager, George Fernandez, told the station he’s never witnessed such a large crowd, he concerned about the recent push for addition gun-control legislation in the wake of the recent deadly mass shooting at a Parkland, Florida, high school.
“Some of persons that are attending are afraid that further legislation might impact their gun ownership rights,” Fernandez told WTSP.

What gun-control measures are being considered?

Democratic U.S. Sen. Bill Nelson (Fla.) told the station he wants to close the so-called “gun-show loophole,” which allows purchases at gun shows without background checks — as well as an assault weapons ban.
“When the NRA killed the law in 2004, the number of deaths as a result of assault weapons has grown up like a rocket taking off,” Nelson told WTSP.

Florida Republican Gov. Rick Scott’s “action plan” to keep kids safe includes raising the legal age to buy a gun from 18 to 21, banning “bump stocks” and helping people who suffer from mental health issues, the station reported.

What does Fernandez have to say about possible legislation?

Fernandez told WTSP that about 95 percent of the vendors at the Tampa gun show are licensed dealers legally required to run background checks on buyers — and the remaining 5 percent of vendors are private citizens.

Several Florida counties have passed ordinances requiring private citizens to run background checks on gun buyers also, the station said.
But Fernandez added to WTSP that tightening the gun-show loophole wouldn’t have stopped the recent deadly mass shooting at Parkland, as 19-year-old Nikolas Cruz passed a background check before buying an AR-15.

“This was a mental health issue,” Fernandez also told the station. “This is someone that should have been identified from the beginning by law enforcement.”

What did a dad protesting the gun show have to say?

“If you want to protect yourself, get yourself a revolver or how about learning how to fight,” Sergio Gonzalez told WTSP.

What is the Florida Gun Show doing next?

The company canceled next month’s event in Fort Lauderdale after the mayor asked that the outfit show respect to the Parkland victims, but it will sponsor another Tampa show in late April or early June, the station said.

Blacklists, Banning, Name Calling, Blackballing--What Has Happened To The Grand Old Party? This Is Really Insane

The conservative movement’s internal battle over Donald Trump has reached the tipping point: A “blacklist” for the billionaire’s media and political supporters is now official.
Pundits have waged a war of words for months over the rightful place of the Republican front-runner within the movement, but Amanda Carpenter’s call to “blackball” Trump’s supporters gained momentum on Friday.
Carpenter is a frequent guest on CNN and once served as communications director for Sen. Ted Cruz.
“Call it a boycott, call it a blackball, call it a blacklist, call it whatever you want. I’m done with these folks and other conservatives should be, too,” Carpenter wrote Friday. Anyone who will defend a man condoning random acts of violence at his rallies has lost his morals; he will defend anything at all.”

Red State’s Leon Wolf responded with a piece titled, “Amanda Carpenter is Right. Blackball the Trump Endorsers.”
“People who are endorsing Trump, while other Republicans are still standing, have forever forfeited their right to have their opinion taken seriously by conservatives,” Wolf wrote. “And when Trump’s train finally wrecks, before or after November, it will wreak untold destruction on this party and this movement.”
Brian Darling, who previously served as an adviser to Sen. Rand Paul and who now supports Cruz, disagrees with Carpenter and suggests she add his name to the top of the “boycott” list.
“Many conservatives still support members of Congress who refuse to use the power of the purse to defund Obamacare, Planned Parenthood and Obama’s slew of executive actions. Why not blackball them too,” he writes.
Some of the names on Carpenter’s list include:
  • Retired neurosurgeon Dr. Ben Carson
  • New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie
  • Former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin
  • Florida Gov. Rick Scott
  • Alabama Sen. Jeff Sessions
Red State contributing editor Ben Howe told Carpenter that he could get a Web designer to work on the blacklist project for free.

Breitbart News responded by likening the effort to something former President Richard Nixon would use.

“So far, anti-Trump think pieces referencing William F. Buckley have been ineffective. Memes comparing Trump to Hitler haven’t worked,” writer Patrick Howley said. “So these Republicans are getting more Nixon-y. They’re coming out with an Enemies List.”
Trump is well on his way to winning the 1,237 delegates needed to becoming the 2016 Republican presidential nominee. If that happens, then conservative critics will be forced to coalesce around Trump’s campaign or continue to attack as incoming begins from likely Democratic Party nominee Hillary Clinton.
“I hate this. I hate it. I hate attacking people I respect,” National Review’s Jonah Goldberg wrote March 12. ” I hate hearing from former fans who say they’re ashamed to have ever admired me or my writing. I hate being unable to meet fellow conservatives half-way. One of the things I love about conservatism is that we argue about our principles; as I’ve written 8 billion times – more or less – we debate our dogma. I love our principled disagreements. But I honestly and sincerely don’t see this as a mere principled disagreement. I see this as an argument about whether or not we should set fire to some principles in a foolish desire to get on the right side of some ‘movement.’ I have never been more depressed about the state of American politics or the health of the conservative movement. I hate the idea that political disagreements will poison friendships – in no small part because as a conservative I think friendship should be immune to politics.”
The Blaze’s Matt Walsh wrote three days later that as “unpleasant” as the political landscape is at the moment, it is necessary to “identify the traitors and remember their names.”
“We do this not out of spite, but in keeping with the Bible’s many warnings about false prophets. Scripture urges us to ‘expose the unfruitful works of darkness’ (Ephesians 5:11) and avoid becoming partners with those ‘who deceive with empty words’ (Ephesians 5:6). Colossians implores us not to be ‘taken captive by deceit,'” Walsh wrote.
“We’re warned in 2 Timothy that the time will come when people will not want to hear the truth, so they will surround themselves with frauds who tell them what their ‘itching ears want to hear.’ I believe we have arrived at that moment, and it is now urgent that we specifically identify these frauds and false teachers. This is not a fun or polite process, but it is necessary, so we must get on with it.”
