After British Prime Minister Chamberlain signed the Munich Pact with Hitler in 1938, Winston Churchill responded, “You were given the choice between war and dishonor. You chose dishonor and you will have war.”
By the end of the appeasement process Hitler was stronger, the allies were weaker and the war, when it came, was more violent and more devastating than it might have been.
President Obama's surrender to the Iranian dictatorship is based on the same mistake Chamberlain and his predecessor made about Hitler--and the same false analysis that required them to lie about Hitler's rearmament program and then abandon allies in efforts to appease an aggressive, evil regime. When dealing with a regime that is fully prepared to enforce its will, appeasement doesn’t make us safer. It makes the world much more dangerous.
President Obama's surrender to Iran is the biggest undermining of American national security since President James Buchanan failed to oppose and repress seceding southern states in 1860 and allowed federal forts to fall into confederate hands. Buchanan's timidity, confusion, and lack of firmness enabled southern radicals to feel emboldened and to begin arming militia who would end up fighting the union in a few months.
The Obama Administration is clearly surrendering on virtually every aspect of Iranian policy. The Iranians have been publicly humiliating the President and the Secretary of State by ridiculing American claims about the agreement.
The head of Iran’s militia said last week that the destruction of Israel was “
non-negotiable.” President Obama ignored it.
The Iranians are demanding an immediate end to sanctions and President Obama is apparently
consideringthe release of $50 billion in Iranian funds currently frozen. This is about 10 percent of the entire Iranian economy and would be a huge boost for the leading state sponsor of terrorism worldwide.
The Russians are now willing to sell a very advanced air defense system to Iran. This will make it dangerous for all but the most advanced aircraft to enter Iranian airspace. Thus it appears President Obama is willing to accept a better armed, more powerful Iranian dictatorship.
No President in modern times has been as willful in pursuing a policy in which the United States is humiliated, its allies are weakened, and its enemies are strengthened.
We had better start a national discussion how about how we are going to deal with a nuclear-armed Iran because it is clear that the Obama surrender concedes, in fact guarantees, that we will soon be facing an Iranian dictatorship equipped with nuclear weapons.
The consequences of a nuclear Iran for the entire region are very sobering.
Churchill was right. President Obama will have given away our honor and if war comes it will be worse and more devastating than it might have been if only President Obama had been prepared to defend America.

Newt
