CNN: Democrat Voters Flocking to Sanders Think Clinton Is Too Connected to Washington and Wall Street
BY:
Many Democratic voters are worried Hillary Clinton is too connected to Washington and beholden to Wall Street, a CNN report showed Monday.
Those worries have made many Democrats swarm to socialist Sen. Bernie Sanders (I., Vt.). On Saturday night, Sanders spoke to a crowd of over 11,000 people, his biggest turnout yet.
“Look at the size of these crowds,” CNN reporter Jeff Zeleny said. “From Phoenix, Arizona, to Portland, Maine, his rallies are bigger than all the presidential candidates combined.”
Zeleny said the reason that Sanders has attracted such huge crowds is because of his message on income inequality.
“He speaks for the middle class,” one voter said.
“He’s out telling the truth,” another voter said.
Some who attended the event said they support Sanders because they want an alternative to Clinton.
“I wish her well but she is not my candidate.”
“I think she is very tied into Wall Street.”
“I feel she is too connected to Washington.”
Clinton has yet to address Sander’s rise in poll numbers and underestimate his chances of being a real challenge to her.
“People have often underestimated me,” Sanders said.
