Rep. Pompeo: Hillary Knew She Had 'Personal Commitment' to Secure Sensitive Data

Rep. Mike Pompeo, a member of the House Select Committee on Benghazi, tells Newsmax TV his group has evidence that Hillary Clinton understood it was her duty to protect classified information and even signed documents as secretary of state pledging not to release sensitive government data.
"We knew that she was required to have signed such a document. Every one of us who handles classified information has an obligation to safeguard it," Pompeo, a Kansas Republican, said Friday on "The Steve Malzberg Show."
"We make a personal commitment, we make a commitment to the Constitution and good old-fashioned common sense tells you that you can't mishandle information.
"We now see that not only would she have known that, but she read a document that she signed indicating that even just mishandling, not intention, but negligent, is sufficient to suffer criminal penalties."
Clinton has been under fire for using a private email server as secretary of state — a move that possibly allowed sensitive government information to leak out. The FBI is currently propping whether any laws were violated by her use of the private server.
"I am confident that the FBI's investigation will be concluded before too long and I look forward to seeing how they make their conclusions," Pompeo said.
"My view would have been that she had an obligation to safeguard it whether she signed the darn thing or not. But it is absolutely the case, its evidentiary matter to prove something in a court of law we now have a signature and a commitment [on a document] that is legal and binding."
