Could The Chickens Be Coming Home To Roost In Turkey

Turkey’s Biggest City on High Alert

After Subway Rocked by Explosion

A subway station in Istanbul, Turkey, was rocked after a blast that left as many as five people injured, Turkish media reported Tuesday, and metro services were suspended as the city sought to restore order and ensure security:
State-run Anadolu Agency cited Istanbul Governor Vasip Sahin as saying the cause of the blast was still unknown, and all possibilities were being investigated. One person was lightly injured, he said, contradicting reports from private news agencies including Haberturk that one person was killed.
Hurriyet News released video Tuesday of the reported blast:
Initial reports ranged from as many as one person dead to as few as one wounded.
Reuters reported earlier:
Turkey’s Haberturk TV reported the explosion was apparently triggered by a power transformer, but Turkish broadcaster NTV said the explosion may have been caused by a bomb on an overpass.
Istanbul Gov. Vasip Sahin said one person was injured, according to theAssociated Press. He added:
“The cause of the explosion is not known. We are assessing every possibility.”
Turkey borders Syria, and has been a gateway to Europe for refugees fleeing warfare across the region.
