Could New Border Patrol Chief A Bad Choice?

During an election cycle where illegal immigration has become a top issue, most Americans are in favor of making the porous southern border with Mexico stronger to keep more illegal immigrants out of the United States. Unfortunately, the Obama administration seems to be doing the opposite – working hard to undermine law enforcement, while weakening the current immigration laws.

Validation for this belief has come to light with one of the rumored short list of candidates being considered to head the Border Patrol – former San Francisco Police Chief Heather Fong.

Ms. Fong has a strong history of thwarting Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) during her tenure as Police Chief of the country’s most renowned sanctuary city. Even in cases where illegal aliens had committed violent crimes, Fong flouted the rule of law and enforced sanctuary city policies.

“Fong, who currently serves as Assistant Secretary for State and Local Law Enforcement in Obama’s Department of Homeland Security, has made numerous controversial remarks about illegal immigrants in the past, including:

“‘San Francisco is committed to providing safe access to public services to our communities. We do not work on enforcing immigration laws.‘

“According to the San Antonio Express, Texas Governor Greg Abbott minced no words about his thoughts on Fong’s possible new position as Border Patrol Chief:

“‘If that person [Heather Fong] is chosen, you will see a revolt in this country, because we are not going to tolerate this perpetuation of violating the law and not enforcing the law. If the president brings in someone who is going to abdicate the rule of law in this country, the American people are not going to tolerate it any more.‘“

It looks like Obama is using his remaining time in office to get as many new government-dependent, Democratic voters as possible into this country. The 9 Handicap-in-Chief has no regard for the Constitution or the rule of law – only implementing as much of his left-wing agenda as possible.

Will the Republican-controlled Congress finally grow a spine and vote down nominations like Ms. Fong to head the Border Patrol?
