One of those killed in the December 2 Inland Regional Center shooting has been named as Nicholas Thalasinos. He was a native of New Jersey and had moved to southern California for be with his wife, Jennifer Thalasinos. He became a born-again Jew in 2013, the same year that Syed Farook went to Mecca on a pilgrimage to meet his wife Tashfeen Malik.
The two perpetrators in the crime, Syed Farook and Tashfeen Malik, were killed by police in the hours after the shooting.
Here’s what you need to know:
1. He Had an Argument With Farook on the Day of the Shooting But Generally ‘Had Nothing Bad to Say About the Shooter
A friend of the slain man told the New York Post that Thalasinos got into an argument with Syed Farook at the party where the shooting took place. The two fought over Islam and Farook’s assertion that it was a religion of peace. Farook said that Americans didn’t understand Islam. A friend of Thalasinos’, Kuuleme Stephens, said he heard the whole argument as he happened to call Thalasinos at the time of the argument. The slain man’s wife, Jennifer, told the Post, “He knew Syed. He worked with him. And he never had anything bad to say about him. He knew he was Muslim, and with our faith, they may not necessarily have got along.”
Another of Thalasinos’ friends, Thomas Duane Smith, wrote on Facebook that “HEY EVERYONE THE NEW YORK POST WROTE AN ARTICLE TRYING TO INSINUATE THAT MY FRIEND Nicholas Thalasinos WAS AT FAULT FOR THE ATTACKS IN CALIFORNIA.
PLEASE CALL THEM AND LET THEM KNOW THAT IS FALSE, AND ASK HOW THEY WOULD FEEL IF EVERYONE SAID THAT THE NEW YORK POST WAS RESPONSIBLE FOR THE ATTACKS ON 9 11. 2001.” Smith goes on to offer the phone number of the Post’s news desk and encouraged friends to call and complain.

2. The Day Before He Died, He Received a Threat Telling Him That Would Die &; Never See Israel
ABC News reports that he was long-term employee of the San Bernardino Department of Health. He formerly worked in Cape May County, New Jersey, as a health inspector. The station says that Thalasinos’ wife, Jennifer, works as a teacher in southern California. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his two adult sons.
The day before his death he posted on Facebook that he had received a threat telling him that he would “die and never see Israel.” One of the many tributes to Thalasinos that have been posted on his page read “It is my honest belief that Nicholas was murdered because of his alliance with Israel and Jewish people.”
3. In the Wake of the Colorado Planned Parenthood Shooting, He Called PP Employees ‘Licensed Murderers’
In the wake of the Colorado Springs Planned Parenthood shooting on November 27, Thalasinoswrote a series of tweets:
His final tweet before his death said that “Jeb Bush is his own WORST Enemy.”
According to his Facebook page, Thalasinos was a Messianic Jew. On his Twitter page, Thalasinos identifies himself as “I am the LEAST SERVANT and Talmadin of Rabbi Yeshua Messiah and through Him HASHEM.”
His Facebook also says that he “Studied Conservatism at the Limbaugh Institute of Advanced Conservative Studies.” On Facebook, he went by the moniker “ProTzionist.” His brother Michael also took that name. Michael wrote a Facebook post on November 28 with Nicholas that read:
The problem with the world is that people seem to think that ‘real life’ is somehow TOTALLY SEPARATE from the Spiritual realm. The Liberals WON the day they took Biblical learning out if schools – that’s when we STOPPED teaching BIBLICAL VALUES to our children. Every succeeding generation LESS children learn them – the void has become filled with WORLDLY (HaSatans) values instead of HASHEMS values.
4. He Was Outspoken Against Islamic Terrorism
He had written extensively about Islamic terrorism and was outspoken in his opposition to it. AMay 2014 writing from Thalasinos dealt with Elliot Rodger, who stabbed and shot six people at the University of California, Santa Barbara that month. The blog post reads:
Liberal arm-chair quarterbacks are tweeting that Eliot Roger – the California shooter – killed those Sorority sisters because he was ‘Jewish dirt who was a virgin and a MYSOGYNIST’ – and a Right wing nut.If I may:1. The Left just has to INJECT THEIR RAGING JEWISH RACISM INTO EVERY TRAGEDY EVERY CHANCE THEY GET.
Let’s just compare him to all the MUSLIM MURDERERS that operate worldwide EVERY DAMN DAY.2. He was a SICK, MENTALLY ILL LUNATIC – politics isn’t a part of this!3. He stabbed his Geek roommates – he didn’t just hate WOMAN, he hated EVERYONE.Final note to all the Gun Control SICK GHOULISH LIBERAL LUNATICS who are SLOBBERING at this opportunity – he killed his roommates with a KNIFE!LETS BAN KNIVES – RIGHT?
One Facebook photo on his page made fun of a sign from a Christian church that told people “the best way to defeat ISIL is to make friends with a Muslim.”
The blog he wrote for, Big Dog’s Weblog, is run by a veteran who “cannot stand liberalism and feel it is a disease that eats away, like a cancer, at the fabric of our society. I also believe that if this country does not stop pandering to special interest groups and does not stop taking away the rights guaranteed under our Constitution, and if they do not stop creating a welfare class of dependent people, there will be another civil war.”
In an obit for Thalasinos, the site’s admin wrote:
I never met Nick in person though he is one person I wish I had. He was part of a group of people I communicate with via social media and we became friends through interactions among those folks. He was a religious man (as evidenced by his screen name) and he was a big supporter of Israel. All accounts are that he was a great family man and loved by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
The admin goes on to say that President Obama “will continue on his quest to import more terror here disguised as Syrian refugees. The people who carry out these attacks are bragging that they are infiltrating the refugees in order to establish terror cells in Europe and In America.”
5. Neither Perpetrator Was Known to the FBI
CNN reports that neither of the suspects were known to local police or to the FBI.
Officials said they do not know what the motive for the shooting is so far adding on December 3 that the couple could have been en route to another attack when they were killed.
After initially saying there were no indications of terrorism, the FBI said Wednesday night that they have not ruled out a connection to terrorism. The FBI spokesman would not give an more specifics.
“I am not willing to go down that road just yet,” said David Bowdich, the head of the FBI’s Los Angeles office, at a press conference. “We will go where the evidence takes us.”
The San Bernardino police chief Jarrod Burguan told the media that “There had to be some sort of planning that went into this.” Burguan continued “I don’t think they just ran home, put on these types of tactical clothes, grabbed guns and came back on a spur of the moment.” The chief spoke regarding the report that Farook had been at a holiday party and gotten into an argument with someone. Only to return a few hours later to open fire.
