Black Lives Matter Organizer Talks About the ‘Myth of Black on Black Crime’
Aaron Goggans, an organizer of the Washington, D.C. chapter of Black Lives Matter came out and announced on CNN recently that black on black crime “is a myth.”
Goggans’ statement was in response to former Baltimore Ravens NFL star Ray Lewis’ video rant. In the rant, Lewis expressed frustration that no one is addressing the overwhelming number of blacks who are killing blacks and instead, they are spending all of their time talking about a handful of shootings where the shooter was a police officer.
“But we keep screaming, ‘black lives matter,'” Lewis said. “If they really matter, then let’s do ourselves a favor: let’s stop killing black folks.”
When asked to respond to the football players’ statement, Goggans ignored the facts and went straight to fantasy. “It’s important to talk about the myth of black on black crime,” Goggans said.
“The movement of black lives is also focusing on state sanctioned violence, which is a different thing. It’s not just a few white cops killing a few unarmed black men, it’s actually the state systematically creating up systems that are killing black people, both black women, black men, black children, black queer, black trans and black gender non-conforming folks.”
