Just days after the mainstream media blamed "fake news" for the rise
of Donald Trump, the totally objective non-partisan in no way in the tank
 for Hillary Clinton mainstream media decided to engage in some "fake
 news" of its own.

This morning, Trump Chief of Staff Reince Priebus joined Chuck Todd to
discuss the widely misunderstood "Muslim registry" being pushed by the
Trump camp. Here's that clip:

Priebus' words: "Look I'm not going to rule out anything," Priebus said. "We're 
not going to have a registry based on a religion. But what I think what we're
 trying to do is say that there are some people, certainly not all people... there
 are some people that are radicalized. And there are some people that have 
to be prevented from coming into this country. And Donald Trump's position, 
President Trump's position is consistent with bills in the House and the Senate 
that say the following: If you want to come from a place or an area around the 
world that harbors and trains terrorists, we have to temporarily suspend that 
operation until a better vetting system is put in place."

Here's how NBC News chose to tweet about it:

I don't know about you, but to me this looks like NBC News is intentionally
 cutting off the most relevant section of the quote in order to mislead readers
 into believing that Reince Priebus is saying that Muslim Americans will have
 to join a registry. But that's not what he's saying at all. Priebus instead rules
 out religious registry, shifting to the very common sense notion of vetting and
 perhaps registering visitors and immigrants from so-called terror hot-spots, an
entirely reasonable and entirely constitutional proposal.

So this looks like that "fake news" the mainstream media warned us about.

Predictably, intelligent conservatives let them have it:

Look, it's very simple: The so called mainstream media is just as partisan and
agenda driven as the so called new, partisan media, and the average news
consumer now prefers sources that are honest about this bent. They were
completely invested in a Hillary victory, just as now they're completely invested
in a Trump failure, and it is so transparent that even the most ignorant news
consumer can see it. As the Federalist's David Harsanyi put it:

In fact, it’s possible one of the reasons voters are more easily taken in by fake

news (and I see no proof that it’s more likely today than it was in the past) is

that they have solid reasons not to believe the media. The way media covered

the 2016 race, acting as Trump had absolutely no chance of winning,

probably reinforces this perception among many Americans. This post-

election coverage is not going to change anyone’s mind.

Obama laments 'distorted impression' of Muslims

President Obama stressed religious tolerance during an Iftar dinner to celebrate the Muslim holiday of Ramadan, linking the murders of nine black Christians in South Carolina with the killings of three Muslims in North Carolina earlier this year.

"Our prayers remain with Charleston and Mother Emanuel church," Obama said Monday night, using the nickname of the historically black church in Charleston where nine people were killed Wednesday night after a gunman opened fire in a Bible study.

"As Americans, we insist that nobody should be targeted because of who they are, or what they look like, who they love, how they worship. We stand united against these hateful acts."

Obama lamented the "distorted impression" that many Americans have of Muslims.

"Here in America, many people personally don’t know someone who is Muslim. They mostly hear about Muslims in the news -- and that can obviously lead to a very distorted impression," Obama said.

He shared the story of protesters outside of an Arizona mosque who held up "offensive signs against Islam and Muslims. But when the congregants invited the protesters in to pray, some completely changed their minds.

"One demonstrator, who accepted the invitation later, described how the experience changed him; how he finally saw the Muslim American community for what it is -- peaceful and welcoming," Obama said.

"That’s what can happen when we stop yelling and start listening. That’s why it’s so important always to lift up the stories and voices of proud Americans who are contributing to our country every day."

Samantha Elauf, the woman at the center of the recent Supreme Court case about whether she could where a hijab as an Abercrombie & Fitch employee, attended the White House dinner. Elauf
won her case in early June by an 8-1 vote.

Catholic League President Bill Donohue is slamming President Barack Obama for his statement commemorating the end of the Muslim Ramadan observance, saying Obama doesn't "stand with people of all faiths."

Obama's brief statement, issued earlier this week to send best wishes to Muslims during the Eid al-Fitr celebration, said that the observance reminds him and wife Michelle "of the many achievements and contributions of Muslim Americans to building the very fabric of our nation and strengthening the core of our democracy."



Further, Obama said he and his wife "stand with people of all faiths, here at home and around the world, to protect and advance their rights to prosper, and we welcome their commitment to giving back to their communities."

"While Eid marks the completion of Ramadan, it also celebrates the common values that unite us in our humanity and reinforces the obligations that people of all faiths have to each other, especially those impacted by poverty, conflict, and disease," the president said.

Donohue wrote on the Catholic League's website that Obama does not stand with all faiths while protecting human rights.

"As you speak, Christians are being beheaded all over the Middle East because they are Christians, and those carrying out this mass murder are doing so in the name of Islam,"  Donohue wrote. "Yet you continue to say and do absolutely nothing about these unspeakable crimes. Do Christian lives mean so little to you?"

Donohue said that when he types in the phrase "President Obama Speaks Out," or "Speaks Against," into Internet search engines, subjects such as "Trayvon Martin," "Kanye West," "Fox News," and "bullying" come up.

"I can search in vain to find you condemning the genocidal slaughter of Christians by Muslims," Donohue wrote. "Muslim terrorists are killing Jews in Israel and their representatives have pledged to wipe Jews off the face of the earth. Yet your administration spends most of its time lecturing Israelis to be patient. About what? Being bombed because they are Jews? Do Jewish lives mean so little to you?"

Donohue admitted that nobody wants the president to insult Muslim Americans from the White House, "but you had an opportunity to at least call on them to speak out about what their people are doing in the Middle East, and you blew it. Instead, you decided to patronize them for all their contributions to human rights."

ISNA’s president had met twice with Obama and Valerie Jarrett, making this a high end meeting. And Jarrett had addressed the ISNA convention back in 2009.

“Muslim Americans are integral part of our character and history and we rely on your innovation and entrepreneurship to help keep moving this country forward,” Obama told ISNA members. “Over the last half century, you have upheld the proud legacy of American Muslims’ contributions to our national fabric and this gathering is a testament of that tradition.”

The timing for Obama’s shameless flattery is rather poor as it directs attention to his plans for fighting a war on behalf of the Muslim Brotherhood in Syria and his repeated attempts to pressure the Egyptian government to restore the Muslim Brotherhood to power in that country.

ISNA is a notorious Muslim Brotherhood front group and while its mother organization back in Egypt is burning churches, Obama praised ISNA for its interfaith activities, saying, “I am especially grateful for the work that ISNA has done to advance interfaith understanding and cooperation here in home and around the world.”

“So thank you ISNA for your tireless advocacy and commitment to America that realizes the full potential of all its people,” Obama said.

Speakers at the terror-linked group’s convention that Barack Hussein Obama was praising, include Shaykh Hamza Yusuf, Co-Founder of Zaytuna College, and Muslim Brotherhood scion Tariq Ramadan who defended stoning women to death.

Shaykh Hamza Yusuf said of the United States “[America] a country that has little to be proud of in its past and less to be proud of in the present. I am a citizen of this country not by choice but by birth.
