Guess Who Is Going To The Western Conservative Conference

GOP presidential primary front-runner Donald Trump will be taking his seemingly bulletproof campaign to Scottsdale, Arizona, in March for the Western Conservative Conference, where he has been confirmed as a speaker.
Others expected to address the sessions during the March 18-19, 2016, meetings include former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee, Sheriff Joe Arpaio, Rep. Trent Franks, R-Ariz., former NRA president Sandy Froman, and Scottie Nell Hughes of the Tea Party News Network.
Reps. Matt Salmon and Paul Gosar, both Arizona Republicans, will serve as co-chairs of the conference, and previous GOP presidential candidate Herman Cain will deliver the opening keynote address.
The Western Conservative Conference is described as the “premier gathering of conservatives in the western U.S.”
It follows a format similar to CPAC or the Values Voter Summit, featuring plenary sessions with guest speakers and panels, breakout sessions covering specific issues, book signings, exhibits, a luncheon, and a dinner reception.
In fact, the WCC used to be called Western CPAC, according to Floyd Brown, president of the Western Center for Journalism. Brown will serve as one of several co-hosts of the conference, as he has in the past, and the WCJ will be one of many sponsoring organizations.
“Traditionally we’ve had conservatives come from all over the country to these conferences, and they’ve been well-attended (usually 500 to 1,000 people), and it’s a great place for conservatives to network and get to know other conservatives and to discuss the issues that are going to really impact this presidential election, and also the congressional races in 2016,” Brown told WND in an interview.
Planned topics for panel discussions include the media, immigration, taxes, Second Amendment rights, free speech, threats to freedom of religion, and more.
Brown, the author of “Killing Wealth, Freeing Wealth: How to Save America’s Economy and Your Own,” also said he will speak at the conference, but he does not yet know what his topic will be.
Brown noted the conference will be held in Arizona the weekend before the Arizona primary. As such, conference organizers have invited most of the current GOP presidential candidates to speak, including Jeb Bush, Marco Rubio, Ted Cruz, Ben Carson, and Carly Fiorina. So far only Trump and Huckabee have confirmed.
Brown said the idea is to let ordinary conservatives influence the eventual nominee.
“We always believe that the more conservatives can have direct interface with the eventual winner, the more likely he or she is to pursue a conservative agenda,” Brown said.
Other invited speakers include Ann Coulter, Sheriff David Clarke, Mark Levin, Sarah Palin, Katie Pavlich, Judge Jeanine Pirro, and Heritage Foundation president Jim DeMint.
In addition, WND founder and CEO Joseph Farah will receive the Western Center for Journalism’s Hero of Freedom Award during a dinner gala celebrating the 25th anniversary of Farah’s founding of the WCJ. Rush Limbaugh has been invited to present the award.
Brown praised Farah for his “unwavering commitment to news without bias and an agenda.”
“I think, of anybody in the modern conservative movement, he typifies what I think you should have in journalism, and that is an aggressive watchdog of government,” Brown stated. “Journalism traditionally has had that role of being government’s watchdog, and too often in modern journalism, the mainstream media has become more of a lapdog than a watchdog of government.”
More information about the Western Conservative Conference is online at the official conference website.

What Does Herman Cain Think Of The Candidates? The Answers Are Here.

Politics: Cain's presidential ratings

And now there are 21!
Governor John Kasich of Ohio is the latest declared candidate. We would rate him "A" for vision and "A" for substance, because of his record of achievements as governor of Ohio. We grade him a "C"for perception, because despite his achievements and congressional experience, with all due respect, he lacks a compelling personality. He can't change that nor should he try, but like it or not, personality and popularity are the only traits some voters use to make their voting decisions.

Most people outside of Ohio don't know him. As a result, we rate his overall appeal as a presidential candidate a "B".

As discussed earlier, the Republicans do not have any "bad for America" candidates. Some are just much better than others. The better ones, who survive the lens of the media, will rise to the top as the race for the nomination continues to unfold.

On the other hand, the Democrats have no "good for America" candidates running for the Democrat nomination. The reasons are simple. They all favor big government, more irresponsible spending, more taxes, redistribution of people's income, and controlling more of people's everyday lives. They might say it differently to disguise their intent, but it's all the same.

Remember, the media tends to highlight unimportant differences amongst the candidates of the same political party, and explode differences between candidates from opposing parties. This is a distraction tactic to keep you confused, and to discourage some people from paying attention at all.

As a result, we have non-voters, dumb voters, single-issue voters, personality voters, identity politics voters and informed voters. Unfortunately, the truly informed voters are the smallest group. This is because people don't have a lot of time to become truly informed, so they depend on their most frequently watched, read or listened to media source to influence their voting decisions.

We strive to be that source for you with this website and the Herman Cain Radio Show, which you can hear 24/7 anytime, anywhere on any digital device!

As the announced presidential candidates continue to grow in number, it's going to be harder and harder for Main Street folks like us to keep up with the similarities and the differences. This is even more difficult because of the media's uncontrollable impulse to define each candidate based on labels, sound bites, and perceptions they want to create.
The media tends to highlight unimportant differences amongst the candidates of the same political party, and explode differences between candidates from opposing parties. This is a distraction tactic to keep you confused.

As a result, we have non-voters, dumb voters, single-issue voters, personality voters, identity politics voters and informed voters. Unfortunately, the truly informed voters are the smallest group. This is because people don't have a lot of time to become truly informed, so they depend on their most frequently watched or listened to media source to influence their voting decisions.

That's why we continue to get "less bad" leaders in the White House.

Our objective on my radio show and this literary space is to help you be a more informed voter with the facts and the truth, so as Honest Abe said over 155 years ago, you will make better decisions.

Better decisions by better informed voters will lead to a better America!

These ratings are intended to give you a conceptual overview of the candidates and save you time as we try to "save the savable". Yes, it is based on our "50,000 feet" perspective for simplicity sake. But you can trust me and my producers and writers, or you can depend on some liberal wackos.
This is America, it's your choice.

Some Women Voters Are So In Bed With Hillary, That Nothing Will Deter Them. Scandals, Lies And Lack Of Experience Do Not Faze Them. Maybe This Is The Reason, The Founders Did Not Give Women The Vote!

"She is smart!"
I usually leave the Hillary critiques to Dan, because he is paaasionate about reminding people about how unqualified she is to be president of the United States of America. And I agree with him wholeheartedly!

But! I could not resist sharing a recent incident that occurred while I was taking a few days off. When a lady recognized me as the "999 guy," I thanked her for remembering and she promptly told me she was a Democrat, adding, “Hillary in 2016.”

I paused and asked her why she is going to vote for Hillary.

She said because "she is smart." She is smart!

I simply walked away.

The Clinton/media perception machine is working. People like this lady don't hear or care about the Clinton scandals, or the lack of any real accomplishments. She is the well-known wife of a former president, who has held some impressive-sounding titles such as Senator and Secretary of State.

And by the way, this lady and others want to elect the first woman president, even though this would be the absolute wrong woman to elect as president.

A casual conversation with someone else revealed that they just don't know that much about Hillary Clinton other than her name ID. All of the scandals surrounding her were not connecting with them like it does with those of us who watch this stuff as part of our pursuit to save the savable, because people are just trying to make it from day to day.

Remember, half of the working people in this country are making $51,000 a year or less, and many of them don't realize that they have been hit by a bunch of sneak-a-taxes while the cost of living has gone up in the last six years.

So we have our challenge. It's not about "Hillary bashing" as the media implies most of the time. It's about getting as many voters as possible to base their voting decision on more than just the unavoidable personality politics. That's how we get America back on the right track.

I know this is a daunting and sometimes seemingly impossible task, but that's why I say often that we must "save the savable", and we can!

You can help by sharing this commentary with a friend who will listen, visiting our website hermancain.com regularly, and listening to the Herman Cain Show at your leisure anytime, anywhere on any digital device at Cain247.com.

If Hillary Clinton is elected president of these United States of America, I wish my wife and I had somewhere else to move to, but we don't.

We're going to stay and fight, no matter how tough it gets.

Grandparents know what I'm talking about.

There Are Some Republicans In Hollywood!

Cruz Meeting With Hollywood Conservatives on IRS Scrutiny

U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz plans to meet with Friends of Abe — the IRS-targeted group of elite Hollywood conservatives — to address the "McCarthyite" scrutiny it is under as it seeks tax-free charity status.

"FOA should respond to the IRS as it would to any McCarthyite request for information," Cruz, a Texas Republican, told The Hollywood Reporter, referring to the IRS's demand for its membership roster.

"The U.S. Supreme Court has already ruled that Americans have freedom of association, and that groups should not be forced to reveal the names of members because that information could be abused for political gain."

Friends of Abe was founded by actor Gary Sinise in 2004 and consists of nearly 2,000 right-leaning Hollywood movers and shakers, including Pat Boone, Kelsey Grammer and Jon Voight.

Cruz, who will meet with Friends of Abe next month, told the Reporter the group was targeted as part of a government effort to intimidate those critical of President Barack Obama.

He also cited the arrests of Dinesh D'Souza, who made the documentary "2016: Obama's America," and was charged with violating campaign finance laws; and Nakoula Nakoula, whose "Innocence of Muslims" video was initially blamed for the Benghazi attack that left Ambassador Christopher Stevens and three other Americans dead.

"It's a remarkably selective prosecution considering Obama raised millions of dollars under similar circumstances, and donors merely faced civil fines, while D'Souza is charged with felony violation of federal law. There is a pattern of targeting filmmakers who speak out politically," Cruz told the Reporter.

"Authorities have been remarkably selective in prosecuting D'Souza; the IRS's treatment of FOA is consistent with what this administration has done to Tea Party and conservative groups.

"And with Benghazi, which we now know was a terrorist attack, the administration's first instinct was to blame a filmmaker. This administration locked him up. That should be very troubling to the filmmaking community."

Friends of Abe had attempted to keep itself shrouded in secrecy for fear of a backlash from powerful movie industry liberals.

A report in The New York Times revealed it is being investigated by the Internal Revenue Service after applying for tax-exempt status.

According to the Times, the IRS requested information about its meetings with politicians, including 2012 vice presidential candidate Rep. Paul Ryan, former Michigan Rep. Thaddeus McCotter, and 2012 presidential hopeful Herman Cain.

The Times also said the IRS has been probing Friends of Abe — named after Abraham Lincoln — for two years and has had access to its security-protected website containing all the members' names.

Since the organization was launched a decade ago, it has endeavored to keep a veil of silence surrounding its members, even banning cameras at events to avoid publication of pictures of its associates.

"It's a growing movement, and word is getting out that there's many of us in this business," singer Pat Boone told The Washington Times in 2008.

At the time, he was one of the few conservative stars who spoke openly about the group's existence.

"If certain studio execs — hirers and firers — learn that this is a movement and growing, and that some of these people that they hire are of this inclination, these people could be unemployed," Boone explained.

The IRS investigation comes as the agency has been under fire in Congress for targeting  the tea party movement and other conservative groups over their tax-exempt status.

Unlike those groups, Friends of Abe is hoping to win approval from the agency for a status allowing members to claim a tax deduction as long as they do not take part in any partisan political activity.

Jeremy Boreing, executive director of Friends of Abe, told the Times that his organization  "has absolutely no political agenda." He added, "It exists to create fellowship among like-minded individuals."

The organization — whose name is a take on Friends of Bill, which consists of people loyal to former President Bill Clinton — was launched through an email chain connecting conservatives in the film industry.

Although Sinise, best known for his role as Lt. Dan in "Forrest Gump," was the initial leader, he stepped back from his position as the organization grew stronger.

In conversations with the IRS, the group was specifically asked about meetings with Ryan, former Pennsylvania Sen. Rick Santorum, and Republican Los Angeles mayoral candidate Kevin James, who is unrelated to the "King of Queens" actor of the same name.

The agency is also said to have been particularly interested in Cain speaking at a Friends of Abe event in 2011.

Over the past few years, the group has staged events that have included such notable Republican guests as House Speaker John Boehner and Minnesota Rep. Michele Bachmann, as well as political strategists Karl Rove and Frank Luntz, and conservative commentators Ann Coulter and Mark Levin.

"The IRS would say that if you are inviting only conservative candidates, that's a problem," Marcus Owens, a former director of the agency's exempt organizations division, told The Times.

"But it's never really been litigated."

Is it Ron Paul's time?

In November last year we wrote in a post (November 23 entitled "Ron Paul Republican Candidate?" which is reproduced below), that we felt Paul could be around near the end of the campaign. It seems that we were on the right track. Interestingly, Santorum, Perry, Cain, Bachman et al are out of the race and who is still there--the missing man, Ron Paul! Will he continue to run until the convention? We believe so. Will he get more press coverage, doubtful.  Will he win the nomination for Republican Candidate for President, again probably not. However, should Romney stumble, it is possible (10-25%) but highly unlikely.

That's my opinion, what's yours?

Time To Step Up For Ron Paul
April 11, 2012 by
Time To Step Up For Ron Paul
UPI FILE
Ron Paul is a more attractive candidate to independents and moderates than Mitt Romney.
With Rick Santorum (faux conservative-Pa.)officially “suspending” his campaign andNewt Gingrich (corporatist adulterer-Ga.)fading to inconsequentialness, now is the time for all those “anybody-but-Mitt Romney” Republicans to get behind the only true conservative in the race: Congressman Ron Paul.
Unlike Mitt the Flip, who never held a position he couldn’t change in an instant, Paul has been a consistent and rock-solid conservative his whole career.
He has run his campaign the same way. While other candidates have soared to the top of the polls only to flame out like a New Year’s sparkler, Paul’s campaign has plodded along, amassing delegates along the way. (Don’t believe the media’s delegate count. Paul’s people are working behind the scenes to capture uncommitted delegates and take over local Republican Party offices, much to the dismay of the Republican establishment.)
Unlike Romney, Paul holds truly conservative ideals. He has pledged to balance the budget in three years. He will cut $1 trillion from the budget in the first year and eliminate five cabinet departments (Energy, Housing and Urban Development, Commerce, Interior and Education). He will abolish the Transportation Security Administration, end corporate subsidies (corporate welfare), stop foreign aid and return most spending to 2006 levels.
According to a recent New York Times/CBS News Poll, 69 percent of Americans believe the United States should end its involvement in the Afghanistan war. Paul has said he’ll bring the troops home immediately.
Paul is more pro-gun, pro-Constitution and pro-liberty than Romney. Most importantly, while Romney wears Massachusetts’ Romneycare around his neck like a millstone, Paul has none of that baggage. And Paul is a more attractive candidate to independents and moderates than Romney.
There are still 19 States that have not held their primaries: Connecticut, Delaware, New York, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Indiana, North Carolina, West Virginia, Nebraska, Oregon, Arkansas, Kentucky, Texas, California, Montana, New Jersey, New Mexico, South Dakota and Utah. There are still 1,152 delegates left to be awarded in those States. And while Paul will not win enough delegates before the convention to lock up the nomination, it’s important that Romney doesn’t either.
Then real conservatives can nominate a real conservative candidate that can beat Barack Obama in November.

Ron Paul The Republican Candidate?

Can Ron Paul win? Can he get enough air time in the debates to show his abilities? Can he defeat Gingrich and Romney at a game where he is not slick? Is he a valuable commodity to the Republican race or a distraction? All of these are interesting academic questions and would make a great debate if one wanted to start one.  Which I do!

As I see it Romney and Gingrich are both progressives in the Republican party. Neither is really conservative and both really do not see anything wrong with the country right now except that Republicans don't have their hands on all the handles of power. Would either be better than Obama, marginally.  Not much would change if either were elected.

On the other hand, if Ron Paul would be the President, one could expect to see major departures in policy. We would see a major pull back in troop deployment around the world and a departure in who we pay foreign aid. In both of these areas, we believe he is on the right track. However, he also would propose major reductions in military spending, more than the SuperCommittee's lack of leadership has given us.  We need to maintain our armed forces to be the best in the world and we don't think that is the same goal that Dr. Paul has.

Ron may be the last man standing when the dust settles. If Gingrich and Romney go after each other, they could destroy themselves and their opponent and that would leave Dr. Paul.  Additionally, the way the Republicans have gone to proportional delegate counts and done away with "winner takes all', opens the door to a long Republican campaign.  It might force the convention decide the winner.  That would be fun!

The next year will bring all sorts of intrigue and for those of us who love the battle of politics, it is very interesting to see how it will play out.
