Obama administration lies about Israeli ‘terrorism’
Let me see if I’ve got this right. Hamas, the extremist Palestinian organization, calls for a “day of rage” against Israel. Some of its followers, including children, respond by attacking Israelis with knives. Murdered victims in Israel include children and senior citizens.
And the U.S. responds by accusing both sides of “terrorism.” How crazy is that?
In one of the most outrageous examples of dishonesty, President Mahmoud Abbas of the Palestinian Authority accused Israel of the cold-blooded murder of a 13-year-old Arab youth. The New York Times reported that Abbas’ false accusations were featured in “a viral video that generated deep anger in the Arab world.”
If Abbas had been telling the truth, who could blame people for getting angry? But the Palestinian leader was lying. The truth is that the youth, Ahmad Manasra, had been shot after he took a knife and stabbed an Israeli teenager on a bicycle. But rather than “executing him in the street,” as the Palestinian leader claimed, Israeli forces took him to a hospital for treatment. They later released a photograph showing him being spoon-fed by a nurse.
Last month, Abbas went on Palestinian television to proclaim, “We welcome every drop of blood spilled in Jerusalem.” And he added, “With the help of Allah, every martyr will be in heaven and every wounded will get his reward.”
Abbas’ promise of rewards is not just rhetoric. The Palestinian Authority is known to pay substantial stipends to the families of terrorists who get killed carrying out their murderous assaults. Here’s how Tzipi Hotovely, the deputy foreign minister of Israel, explained what’s happening in a column in The Wall Street Journal:
The unending stream of blood-drenched caricatures and video clips that circulate virally through Palestinian social media is a telling indication of how profoundly the worship of violence is entrenched in Palestinian society. So are the many schools, city squares and sports tournaments named for arch-terrorists.
After years of being brainwashed to believe that Jews are “barbaric monkeys” and “wretched pigs” who deserve to be slaughtered, is it any wonder that some impressionable Arab youngsters respond by trying to murder the nearest Jew — especially since they’ve been promised that they’ll be rewarded in heaven and their families will be rewarded here on Earth for waging jihad on their enemies?
Meanwhile, notice what happened in Israel when a Jew attacked some Arabs. When three Palestinian construction workers and a Bedouin were stabbed by a Jewish assailant in the southern city of Dimona, in what’s been called a revenge assault, the suspected attacker was promptly arrested by Israeli authorities.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu condemned the attack and said violence against innocent Arabs is unacceptable. “Israel is a country of law and order,” he promised. “We bring anyone to justice who commits acts of violence, on either side, Jew or Arab.”
Nevertheless, the Obama administration wasted no time in declaring that both sides were guilty of terrorism. Secretary of State John Kerry said that he would meet with both sides in an effort to “ease tensions” in the region. President Obama urged both sides to “focus on making sure that innocent people aren’t being killed.”
Earlier this month, when Palestinian terrorists murdered an Israeli couple, Eitam and Naama Henkin, in front of their four children, PLO official Mahmoud Ismail went on Palestinian television and praised the killings as part of the Palestinian “national duty.”
Palestinian leaders praise and reward its citizens who murder Jews. Israel arrests and tries any Jews who respond in kind. But rather then defend the only democracy and ally we have in the region, the Obama administration denounces both sides equally.
This is just one more example, as though more were needed, of how Barack Obama and his lackeys are making a mockery of U.S. foreign policy. They treat our enemies as friends and our friends as enemies.
Is it any wonder that our enemies are getting bolder?
Until next time, keep some powder dry.
