Dem Rep Maxine Waters has an interesting theory on what’s wrong with the Democratic Party
California Democratic Rep. Maxine Waters told MSNBC correspondent Jacob Soboroff on Monday that she believes her party is too nice and agreeable when they are in power.
When asked if she thought Democratic leadership was being “way too nice” by agreeing to try to find common ground with President-elect Trump, Waters said, “That has been a problem in my party, that when we’re in power we’re nice. We bend over backwards to work with people.”
“Trump has stepped over everybody. He has no respect for his own colleagues, let alone those on the opposite side of the aisle,” she told Soboroff.
Waters also added that she did not trust Trump and would not cooperate with him even if he invited her to meet with him personally. “I have no intention of pretending everything is alright, ” she said, “This business of calling names, and lying, and retreating on your promises, etcetera, why should I trust him to be any different with me?”
