It Must Be Nice To Get A Government Job From The President

Obama Gives Cushy Jobs to White House Lackies Before Leaving Office

In his final days in office, President Barack Obama has seemed to be channeling his good friend Oprah Winfrey: “You get a federal job! And you get a federal job! You all get taxpayer-funded federal jobs!”
According to the New York Post, the president was scrambling to fill over 100 government vacancies during his final days in office, appointing many of his closest White House confidants to jobs that ensure they will be around for a lot longer than he will be.
CBS’ Mark Knoller reported that since the first of the year, the president has passed on 27 nominees to the Senate, along with 72 appointees that don’t need Senate approval.

The Post said that on Monday alone, Obama named 27 appointees, two which have to go to the Senate for approval.
Many of the appointees are Obama administration functionaries, including “Avril Haines, named a member of the National Commission on Military, National, and Public Service; Sarah Hurwitz, a speechwriter for Michelle Obama, and Raffi Freedman-Gurspan, a White House official, to be members of the United States Holocaust Memorial Council; Christy Goldfuss, DJ Patil, Amy Pope, Dan Utech and Cristin Dorgelo, all White House officials, to be members of the National Infrastructure Advisory Council.”
It’s good to see that the “most transparent administration” since the death of Manco Inca is spending its last few days in power frenetically trying to stuff the corridors of Washington with sympathetic figures.

While it is the prerogative of the president to make these appointments, I’ll say the same thing about these appointments that I said about the raft of new regulations the president has been stuffing down the maw of the federal bureaucracy: If these are such great candidates, why weren’t they vetted, nominated and/or appointed before the twilight hours of the Obama administration?
The answer is exactly what you think it is: They’re not good candidates for the jobs, they’re just Obama’s candidates for the jobs.
If he ever wonders why many Americans won’t miss him all that much, I can point to nearly 100 reasons why right here.

Please like and share on Facebook and Twitter if you agree this move is emblematic of Obama’s eight years in power.
What do you think of the stunt Obama just pulled?
